Saintsational vs Demonland

Yeah mate you should take a photo and send it into Ralph or FHM. I remember they used to pay cash for gross pictures, I'm pretty sure that'd qualify. Turn your injury into profit :D

Tried to take a photo, cramped and fell over...

Blisters have shown no improvement thus far, today will be spent on the couch!

Just wanted to say it was a pleasure coaching the team. Every member worked his butt off for the colours and I'm really proud of you and the terrific sporting spirit in which the game was played. Thanks to Rollo and melbournefc and to everyone who helped out and gave their support including Redleg, imtoohot's father, GOTO, Tim, David and marfa and the others whose names I didn't quite catch. I'm sure everyone slept well last night after the experience.

It's been a while since I've coached and I can't remember doing it in 31 degree heat but we got a real appreciation of what must be involved in rotations because we tried to keep them coming as regularly as possible to ensure we'd have fresh legs at the end of the game. Unfortunately, our timing was a bit off because we had it all meticulously planned for a 20 minute final quarter and they kicked the winning goal at the 24 minute mark. That's football, I guess!

The Martin Heppell medal for our BOG went to imtoohot and I'd particularly like to commend the half a dozen or so players who tagged # 15. I think we managed to blunt his influence reasonably well after the first quarter.

We now have an enormous challenge to regain the Big Carl Cup and to sing it's a Grand Old Flag at the end of the game.

Hopefully, someone can get on to the Saintsational site to thank them for the game and congratulate them again formally on their win and for providing the four blokes who helped us out. They were great!

Thankyou to everyone who had any thing to do with the day, including all the Organisers, Coaches, Spectator and Players, I had a great day.

Today, not so great!

Tomorrow is going to be worse!

Cheers to everyone involved in organising this, despite the heat and the loss it was a great day even though I can barely walk today!

I've got some photos from the game that I might post at a later stage if there any good (haven't had a chance to look over them yet).

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to apologise for both Premiers 08 and my absence.

Premiers08 sent through a message as soon as we learnt that we would not be able to attend. Sad to hear there wasn't many on the bench.

We were pretty shattered, one because of the family issue that needed our attending but more importantly that we were pumped the morning of any were having a practice kick.

We will 100% be there next time to help out the boys.

To only loose by 4 points means that you all gave it your best.

Well done and Carn the Demons!!!!!!

Yup agree with you both, when I think WJ or Rollo said that i'm like WTF!?

That was my fault. I suggested singing the song. I will just say that the boys really fought it out in very trying conditions and all of Demonland/ology should be proud of them for having a real dip. Well done guys.

well done boys from demonland and demonology. :) Although losing by 4 points is always tough, but in these conditions of extreme heat you put pride back in the demon junper

By the way if you go over to ology' George has posted a couple of videos and the team photo.

can u please post the link, i cant find them..thanks

How did you pull up today Jezzzza?

When is the next planned match? I might pull on a jumper. Only 18 so might get thrown around a bit but I'm reasonably quick. I was, however, knocked out in my last football match.

Honestly mate I wouldn't have said size mattered that much. imtoohot, who pretty much dominated in the middle for us, is less than 6ft and skinny, but he had plenty of pace and fitness which most of us could only dream about, and good skills to boot. I think fitness is the main thing (which I am sadly lacking), but having said that anybody, fit or unfit, big or small, talented or a [censored], can play, so you should come down next time. I'd never played footy before, and I know there were a couple of other guys there who hadn't played much either(our inspirational captain had only played one game before I think - the last Saintsational vs Demonland/ology game; you wouldn't know it though :P). The game wasn't too physical; the turf was rock hard so people pretty much avoided diving all over it. You'd be doing bloody well to get yourself KO'd again ;)

Sounds good. I might try to get a mate to come down with me so I'm not a total loner. I heard next Feb floated around? That'd probably be perfect. Hopefully the ground has a bit more give in it.

Its likely to have LESS given it'll be after a stinking hot summer!

2 games under my belt now and will only get better with time Diablo!

Demonology has a few videos and the team pic up for people to see. I have set it up on my trashy blog too.

Not as bad as I thought.

Calves are a bit sore, just glad I didn't wear boots, otherwise I wouldn't be able to walk! Green bruise near my knee that might be a contender for pic of the day.

Got to walk about 3km at mine site today, that should be good test!

sorry with the delay in the match report...

still stuck in melbourne and away from my computer...

hope to post a full report on wednesday night...

strenuously deny the allegation that I suggested the singing of the song after the loss...

very, very proud of the efforts of all of our players, coaches and helpers...

we will get them next time...

I have owned up to it. See my earlier post. Thanks for your effort, you certainly put in the kilometres.

There isn't even a mention on the saintsational site, that's how much they care! :S

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road again and this may be the last roll of the dice to get their 2025 season back on track as they take on the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • NON-MFC: Round 15

As the Demons head into their Bye Round, it's time to turn our attention to the other matches being played. Which teams are you tipping this week? And which results would be most favourable for the Demons if we can manage to turn our season around? Follow all the non-Melbourne games here and join the conversation as the ladder continues to take shape.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?
