i agree... that is the proudest i've been of our team when we've lost...

the fact we came back with only 1 fit player on the bench... the boys tried their guts out tonight...

too bad the first half of the game was horrible...

Tonight was fantastic. Pure guts.

Well, half of tonight was almost fantastic (awful injuries aside) and was definitely courageous........

The other half however left a hell of a lot to be desired.

Pathetic first half, and as usual, we were chasing a lead.

Gutsy effort to keep running until the end, given we had no rotation from half-time onwards, but if they weren't going to show anything for Neita, they had to stand up after Belly went down.

Great second half, terrible first half. Story of our lives.

We don't get any news up here, so I was wondering if there was any news on Daniel?

Was up and walking after the game, so that's really great news.

Shades of Chris Lamb taking a fall in the goal square. Scary stuff!

No neck or spine injuries

Cheers FitZ and Jaded........

And thank the heavens for that. Yep, definitely scary stuff.

im not bloody proud!! it was a champions 300th game and yet in the first half we looked lazy! didn't want to chase! this remble of yea we played a gusy 2nd half but im srry its not bloody good enuff!! its a 4 quarter game and we play 4 quarter game!! too many turnovers! shabby little kicks to a three on one contest.

im sorry but im just realy shitty on the guys on putting a performance like that for our true skipper.

he deserved better!!

I'm not proud of one particular 'supporter'. He was hurling abuse towards Neita all night, (clearly [censored] but still), and my sisters mate had a go at him and tiold him to have some respect and all the rest of it. And what does the drunken idiot do? throws a GLASS BOTTLE at his head missing very finely and just fell short of hitting a little girl and boy and it shattered in front of them making the kids scared shitless, it is fair to say I had a fair crack at him after that effort...

Fairdinkum go away and take up something else, Yeah we lost but that was pure guts tonight, we were very brave considering the injuries, they could have given up but didn't, they gave their all against a side who will play finals and if you think Neitz will be shitty on the performance shows that you know little about footy passion which tonight they showed plenty more than the pies.

did i say neitz would be shitty? no if you read properly u will know i neva said that. the fact is we didn't man up, we didn't hold our tackles, we shanked too many kicks, we looked lazy, we are NOT quick and we left it to the 2nd half to do our damage with half out team injured. maybe if we had a full team in the first half we could have done wayy betta in the 2nd half if ya think about it. im sure neita would be proud but! its a 4 quarter game not 2

I agree, I was just pumped up with the way the fought it out.

Story of our lives is kicking in. Twice Wheatley's kick ended up in goals. Don't they practice kic- ins at training.

I'm proud that after 'Jonno' (whose name, if i heard cheered one more time from the maggot fans behind me, would have been decked by even my girlfriend, and possibly the lovely octogenarian sitting next to me) did his act, the Dees showed some guts, some passion for the jumper and for each other, and that spotfires kicked in all over the place for some time. Nothing would have been worse than just walking off and letting it be, and sure enough, when they started putting some of that aggression into the contest, things started happening, unlike the majority of the first half.

I'm also proud that i hung back from having words with the feral supporter in front of me (they were everywhere!) who not only questioned whether i'd ever played football in my life when i disputed a crap decision, but also asked me (after Juice marked the ball on front of us) how on earth Cameron Bruce came back so fast and was having a shot on goal after being taken off on the stretcher

after a filth player ran into pickett and knocked him over while he was waiting to kick after a mark i screamed for a 50 (how obviosu was that?) a filth supporter behind me started having a go at me so i turned around and gave her a massive spray. i dont normally but the old duck (middle age i spose but hey) had no clue about anything and kept having a go at me all day so i broke. 10 mins later i realised she was sitting in a group that included an old school teacher and good friend and that the old goose was his mother in laws sister! haha

i was proud of the second half, too many times we've surrendered meekly, but we didnt do enough early.

Proud of what, the fact that with 22 players fit we didn't show anything and out two best midfielders started on the bench. One half of footy doesn't make me proud of the performance.

Exactly, i more proud of myself for 2 reasons, firstly that im am so angry i couldn't sleep last night due to how much i was hurting (doubt most players would be) and secondly that i didn't run onto the field at half time to smack every melbourne player for the disgraceful performance they were dishing up.

Being Proud of last nights game is why we never succeed! we settle for too little!

Sure the second half was great, and with the injuries it was better, but i EXPECT! that sort of commitment from the first bounce, not half time, or actually part way into the 3rd when bell got hit, We should have played like mongrels from the start, instead we were weak pricks who didn't run, chase, tackle, shepard and put their bodies on the line.

We also went into a game with robbo clearly unfit and bate hobbling in the warm up, nothing to be proud of, just disgusted that they have not the respect or love of the big skipper to bleed for him for 4 quarters.

Agree... but our inability to handle the emotional aspects is a real cause for concern. God help us if there isn't something done about it before we reach another Grand Final... You can't cough up an entire first half because the occasion gets to you.

Well said Condemned, I feel all fans who made an effort to get there last night have the right to feel somewhat cheated. There is no pride in coming good when the game is over (it like getting an encouragement award – what does it matter?). I expected guys to be running through brick walls for ALL of last night – I guess again I expected too much.

We are too often a lazy, undisciplined and unaccountable football team. We have overachieved in the last few years due to the ability of some of our individual talents (Neitz, Robbo, Yze, White). Has anyone watched the Hawks recently? Look at how they run in numbers and do all the team things – that is a high priority for the new coach – get us playing like a team.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
