Thanks @Demonland

Yes agree Gawn had another excellent game and obviously King & Longmuir agreed too. Bolton was their best and he destroyed us. He must have had a virus because no Demon went near him all night

Interesting that Nick thought only Butts was worthy of votes in his Crows game. They lost by a goal, to an amazing Oskar Baker 💙❤️goal.

Yes, Max is in another class still, even if we should have given him some back up in this game.

Agree that Butts, and also Khamis deserved more votes but Bont was outstanding. Baker was very good for most of the game. Dogs are going to be difficult.

Only my opinion but I thought Josh Treacy was their best .

We had no one to stop him

Not sure if we're doing a thread for each round, couldn't see one for round 3 or 4 yet on a quick search but mods feels free to move this post.

Max got 10 votes against the Suns and now leads the Coaches Association award ahead of Bont and Butters.

King and Hardwick also voted identically.

10: Gawn

8: Steele

6: Pickett

4: Sparrow

2: Melksham

'Mid Fielder's Only' Medal

How bloody good seeing Sparrow up there now.

I’ve been quite harsh on him in his previous years, because really, he was doing nothing. Couldn’t tell you what the bloke did on the ground, and that’s on a good day and I saw him.

But now he’s completely a new player, fast, good with ball in hand, tackle pressure through the roof, and always chasing everyone down.

It’s awesome to see our game style suits him or he suits it, but even better to see him quite evidently having impact now.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
