Bill Laurie’s goal “celly” song will be I Want Your Soul by Armand Van Helden. He’s clearly been hanging out with Spaz and Bowser.

Moose said he’s gonna pick anything other than Sweet Caroline or Take Me Home Country Roads. I like the cut of Moose’s jib

CJ said he should get to pick a song for stopping goals.

Soccer balls!!!

And a grand total of nothing else 😜

If there are songs played after goals that will be the end of me going to the football.

You're not the only one. I think this is the real meaning of "walk out music".

If I was a player I'd chose the worst song I could think of... Oh wait, they all do that already.

Pity we cant hit mute at the game.

There’s no “If”

It’s already been announced.

Although I suspect tongue in cheek, if you are actually leaving a Dees game because they are playing music after a goal, then you probably should be at home on the couch because its not for you. The club is getting with the times (popularity of american/european sports) and trying to attract and keep younger supporters and grow membership numbers. The dinosaurs (minority) I doubt will be missed.

In context I've been going to the footy for 35 years, and it's not a big deal. I'd like to hear 25 songs a game if it means we've kicked 25 snags.

Do we think he will need to play a couple games before being selected since he didn’t play in any of the practice matches or think he has done enough work to come straight in?

The best way to do that is to win games of football. I don't imagine we'll gain new members because we added a gimmick.

For me it's not an age thing. When I was 20 I would have hated it too.

Well said. It's not exactly a new phenomenon either, Norf used to blast the Mazda 'zoom, zoom, zoom' jingle after each goal in the mid 2000s; jumbo-screen entertainment existed in the mid - late 90s when I went to games at the 'G as a kid too. The entertainment factor of the game has just shifted and grown. That's life.

I doubt he steps straight back into the 1s of an acl, interrupted pre season and no practice games.

I too would rather there'd not be these stupid songs. But it is it really that bad? It/they just sounds like a bit of an inconvenience, that's all.

Wheels said they feel he’s ready for the firsts

Just repeating what AMW, Wheels and the physio said.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
