Clint Bizzell

I've seen a lot of people demanding he be put into the VFL and/or delisted at the end of the year, may I ask why?

His form this year since he came back has been excellent, he has all his usual composure, reading of the play and good skills, and has only been beaten when forced to play on the wrong matchup (i.e vs Lucas).

I'd definitely have him for another year, when Whelan, Rivers and Bell are all back with him next year the backline will be much stronger.

i have said this all along bizzell is really important to our line up and has done a fantastic job this year! well done bizz and i hope u keep doing your nice work

Bizzell was again, very good.

He made a couple of mistakes, but so does everyone.

He is continually proves those who bag him on this site wrong.

Age is not an issue for him as he has in no no way slowed up or become a worse player because of it. He should be given a one year contract extension.

He is shocking when it comes to spoiling but his good marking makes him look respectable, I still don't think he'll be given another contract...

The only way Bizz won't be at Melbourne next year is if he is bundled in a big trade as filler.

Has smashed expectations this season but may struggle to get a game with a full list to choose from.

Age has little to do with it when you have the perfect sit.

Biz may scrap an extension next year. He has probably pushed ahead of other players who are likely to get the chop. Brown, Neville, Pickett, Jamar, Ward look the five to go for mine

He was steady yesterday with his usual brain fades and clangers.

It was a perfect role for him yesterday. Played often as the spare man with no accountability for a direct opponent. Against an opposition that was undermanned up forward and were often inept on their delivery inside 50 with regular turnovers, it was Bizzell's salad day.

All that said his collision and spoil of Frawley and the bone dumb hospital pass to a teammate 30 metres out from Carlton's goal only highlights the flakiness that gets more broadly exposed against better and more capable opposition.

SAd but true - I think you're right Rhino.

I'd keep wardy though. I am concerned about the one-paced nature that I see in the Dees. with no bell, and Bater playing forward we lack a competent fast adn ahrd running back-cum-mid. WArdy earns another year for me. Bode, Neville, Jamar, Biz, Holland and Brown top my delist list. Bruce, trapper, davey and green top my trade list.

I agree with everything you said, except this.

I'd rather keep Jamar and Ward over Bizzell.

Ward infuriates me, but his pace is something we sorely lack, especially coming out of the backline. His accountability lately has been much improved too.

As for Jamar, he'll go because we'll probably get a good trade for him, but back-up ruckmans who can actually ruck are far more valuable than 30 year old loose defenders.

I said "may scrap". Its line ball. Ward looks better because our lack of line breakers across HB and the midfield.

I just cant see us holding Jamar, PJ and White. And as Jamar is out of contract at the end of the year. How can we legitimately arrange a trade? Jamar is not in the position to set the terms. Isn't he more likely to go to the PSD?

What's the point of him going into the PSD and taking a gamble, when we could arrange a deal for him where he gets to go to a club who will give him a lot of opportunities, and we get something in return?

And I agree on Ward. Pace alone is saving his career. Although you have to admit, for a 30 year old, he's pretty damn quick!

OK Jamars tall. He has been on our list for 5 years and has struggled to make an impact at AFL level. So what he worth and who would chase him?

Ward speed is neither here nor there if his disposal is poor.

Carlton and Richmond are just two clubs desperate for ruckmen.

Whether they use their early picks to get a ruckman, or whether they opt to trade for a developing one, I'm not sure.

Jamar, for all of his downfalls, is actually a very solid tap ruckman. He would be a good fit at Carlton, and I'd take a third round pick if it was offered (we won't be so lucky to get pick 14 for an ordinary player again).

I would take a third round pick too in a beat.

Against Richmond and Carlton we won the tap outs but got smacked in the midfield clearances. Tap ruckman are overvalued if they cant do anything else. Sydney realised that with Jolly and supped with the devil and got Everitt.

Given Carlton and Richmond are the two first clubs to go to the well for the PSD, why would they give up there youth and when they could get him for free in PSD!

I'd rather keep Jamar and Ward over Bizzell.

Who are you and what have you done with Jaded....

Excellent assessment TBG.....

It has been great watching Bizz getting back to some of the form he was known for, and I love seeing him out there, but the sad reality is that he is getting on a little, and may have problems cracking a spot when all players are back on deck (but he probably wouldn't cost too much for a year, and would be good depth)

But for now I am honestly thrilled to see him playing good, mostly solid, footy again :D !!!

Who are you and what have you done with Jaded....

I'd rather they all went, but Ward and Jamar have more value than Bizzell.

As much as it kills me, we haven't got a replacement for Ward in terms of pace down back, not unless we play Bartram down there, in which case we're robbing our midfield of a quality tagger.

I'd definitely have him for another year, when Whelan, Rivers and Bell are all back with him next year the backline will be much stronger.

There has never been a better time for this club to rebuild its playing list. The process should be centered around our youth. If we are to apply this principle then his time is up.

As for his game, Carlton are very very ordinary and overall the game reeked of 2 lowly sides having a hit out. Even then, he executed some pretty basic clangers.

As we're not going to get rid of everyone, you need to prioritise. Bizz may have some value as defensive cover but might not be in our best 18. I guess it depends how much faith you have in guys like Rivers and Frawley to stay fit and firing, and whether it hurts if we need to throw someone like Miller or Garland into the fray next season if we're struck by poor form/injuries.

Ward should escape the chop.

Jaded i agree with you a lot but...

Ward over Bizz, seriously he has pace........... thats it!

Can't kick, terrible decision making, doesn't man up, ill cry if he is on our list next year.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
