For all we know he already has but it has been kept between us and the Suns until the trade is agreed to. Both clubs might be 80% settled on a deal but it makes everyone look bad if the trade is requested and the deal doesn't get done.

i think it better if he backgrounds the media about his personal issues etc. Make suns look like the bad guys

100% OD. Imagine if us nuffies on Demonland were negotiating trades 😅, after one season clubs would either refuse to negotiate with us or not take our position seriously.

Imagine if we took the take it or leave it attitude and they left it. I can already hear the screams of sack the FD, pres, coach and the board.

But in this instance thats a stance we can take. It's Traccs idea to go. We dont have to give him away.

If the deal isn't to our liking...which we said at the outset then... yep.. walk away until they come to the party.

No need to settle for seconds.... we've already said he WILL play for us unless a satisfactory deal is offered

We both know that this is just mfc's starting position in dealing . At this point there is next to no chance of that happening BB. He will be at GCS the only thing up for decision is the cost to GCS. We will hang in there till close to the end then take the offered deal. I suspect that GCS would like him but not at to high a price. That I know of no price has been nominated at this point so I have no idea what we see as a good deal. 2 high draft picks and only paying a small amount of his salary seems a good outcome.

I disagree. WIth Oliver going there's more room for a midfield with him and Viney. He's a professional so will train hard and perform. WIth a new coach / voice and development of the kids and more attacking gameplan, he might fall back in love with the club.

I think for the MFC it's better to hold than trade him for unders.

We're ushering out 2 mids..

We need at least one back.. from somewhere.

Picks only garner us some wet behind the ears kid(s) . I really dont thinks picks cuts the mustard .

There lies the question what is a fair deal for the MFC? It seems to me that GCS are holding most of the cards, how badly do we want him back, I suspect not at all. Talk of having him back IMO is to try and strength out position. He has played his last game at the MFC.

How badly do we want him back ?

He's gone nowhere quite yet.

How badly do we need him gone ??

I have seen nothing that suggests there are quality mids available. The only player we are showing interest in is the guy from GCS and he is a forward. Like it or leave it the replacements for trac and Oliver are going to come from the within, the last couple of years recruits will need to step up.

The idea is that Humphrey will eventually become a midfielder, and is actually very similar to Trac in terms of how his career is progressing

Everything else aside I am enjoying Demonland advocating for Humphrey to do all the things I've seen Petracca get heavily criticised for.

Sitting here going thru the whole thread …

I reckon we DO have the upper hand. If the deals no good then no deal … Trak’s a pro & he’ll want to keep his standards up & brand (crazy language here) in top shape.

As for the low picks … not enough for a proven champion. Tim Lamb made all the right comments at the start of this saga … no reason to think he’ll wilt now.

As for Trak being back at the Ds … well, I reckon King will sort this out out on day one.

The difference between this situation and Trac last year is there is a viable trade option here.

Carlton would have worked last year if McKay was open to the move.

@Demon Forever

Do we know if Jed Walter has been brought up in discussions as an alternate trade option?

I don’t see why we wouldn’t try get him, we are desperately seeking a young forward, and King, JUH to compete with.

I wouldn’t relent on BH. Walter could be a secondary target if we complete the Trac / BH deal early in the week.

Mention Walter and we’d have no chance on BH

I don't want to see either leave but imo it is past the point of no return.

So why would gcs want to lose him. There is more games ahead of him than trac, they are probably paying him substantial less as well. Is there any reliable info that he wants to leave?

Fair call GB,

I haven’t watched enough of both to know if Humphrey is so much better than Walter, unless we think Jeffo and Luker will get some good guidance from Brodie.

And our target is a midfield/forward replacement in Humphrey.

🤷

Yes - reported by Tom Morris and others that he has personal/family issues and wants to come home

I'm not actually sure he will, the reason he's not a full time mid right now is that his tank is miles off it. He's so explosive and powerful but he's not an endurance athlete at all.

I think BH is going to be a 50/50 forward and mid player probably, but that doesn't mean he won't be immensely damaging and one of the better players in the comp

That’s true - he’s probably more in the De Goey mould than Petracca

The type of player who isn’t likely to get 30+ each week but could get 20 and have maximum impact with each disposal, whether it’s goals or score assists or territory etc

God I hope he comes to us 🤣

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
