Laurie hits up Billings who gets hit late in after the mark and gets a 50metre penalty bringing him to the top of the goalsquare and coverts.

Tholstrup wins a holding the ball free and converts the set shot 20-25 metres out on a slight angle, Casey hit the front.

Hope Kolt gets some confidence from that.

Kolt is bringing the tackling heat early.

Harry Sharp with Casey's fifth

Casey leads 31 to 20

Kolt a different man today. 2 clearances and then stole a free kick from Cambell to nail that goal. He looks so good through the middle. Then a chase down tackle (he has real speed - I thought it was Sharp), and set up a Sharp goal. Just a different player.

Tholstrup with a run down tackle and another free, kicks it long to the top of the square where sharp roves the ball and kicks the goal.

Tholstrup looking good on ball so far

And all of a sudden with that goal to Harry Sharp it’s 31 - 20 in favour of the Demons.

if sandringham are going it alone in 2026 and the aints are fielding a standalone vfl side... now how many teams will there be in this competition??

I suspect still several more than the VFL fixturing team can count to.

Tholstrup very busy with some good hands resulting in close, Hardie marks just inside 50 and gets his 3rd

Kolt clearance, through Bonner, to Hardie, goal.

Good grab jeffo, presented strongly and took it in his hands out front. And converts.

Casey can't miss at the moment

Jeffo takes a strong mark and converts for Casey's seventh

Amateur hour this club. Tholstrup should’ve been given a month in the midfield at Casey when he came back from a long term injury, instead he was thrown straight back into the AFL off no pre season and has since been thrown around all year, ruining his confidence and his season. Terrible development. Same can be said for a lot of players. Kolt has had a terrific start to this game playing in the centre.

Good response from Kolt. Would have 7 or 8 touches, two big game changing tackles and a goal.

Interesting though watching him at CBs - he clearly needs coaching about how to get on the move and when. Can ball watch a little. To be fair, I don't think he was ever a permanent midfielder as a junior. I think the club know he's coming from a way back and have taken a very long term punt on what he could be with proper coaching and fitness paired with his power, frame and character.

Jeffo dropped a couple of uncontested ones (again!) but he is showing good defensive intent and covering the ground well. He and Kentfield look good together...honestly it's probably better than the AFL forward line. Hardie is a weapon

Tom Campbell delivers it on a platter for Jeffo who kicks his second!

After conceding the first two, Casey now lead by 29!

Casey are currently kicking into the breeze. This could get ugly for Sandy...

Sometimes you need to get thrown to the wolves. He has benefited from experiencing the intensity and intent required to play in the firsts.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
