This MRO and tribunal are a farce.

But then the whole competition has become a farce.

Watched the start of Collingwood / Hawks game.

Shiel was definitely guilty of creating an extremely dangerous situation.

Sadly this is way beyond the limited intellectual capacity of the MRO.

The AFL is an absolute basket case. It is a self vested hypocritical commercial entertainment industry.

I also totally agree that in this day and age that we must try and look after the physical welfare of our players. You can manage risks by trying to reduce them but practically speaking you can’t totally eliminate them. Football is a contact sport and there are risks and accidents will occasionally happen.

I can only keep saying that in my opinion both May and Newcombe’s unfortunate collisions should not have been cited nor should they have been suspended. Neither player showed malice or intentionally tried to hurt the other player.

All four players (in both incidents) were just trying to win the football. Simple as that.

Ironic that May should be back to face him next week. Let's hope at some stage there is a "loose ball", May and Newcombe "approaching it from opposite directions", and May puts the little [censored] on his [censored].

Geez I hate Hawthorn... their supporters were hiding in a cave between 2020 and mid-2024, but as soon as finals look a chance, they waddle out like an animal from hibernation and start chirping again. Then the moment you criticise their club or a player within it, they sook up because they've got zero resilience. Absolutely intolerable club.

This needs to be abolished from the game.

Unfortunately allowing players to push in the back has had these type of unintended consequences.

It started with hands to steady and progressively led to pushing.

Go back to umpiring the rules, hands in the back is a free kick...there is a reason the founders had this rule in the first place.

They could even apply the logic (tough for the MRO i know) of the potential dangers to Cameron. If the Lual was in a different body position he could've cleaned Cameron up and caused concussion to him, instead it was his own teammate that copped it but it shouldn't mitigate the circumstances. If they are suggesting that May could've and should've done differently to protect his opponents safety the same theory should be applied in this play.

Quoting myself here but heard Gerrard Healy say almost exactly the same thing earlier today.

Whately was trying to say the tribunal need to stamp this out, Healy basically said it never happened until they started allowing hands in the back.

Enforce the original rule & you have no problem.

Couldn't agree more. The AFL keep seeing players getting injured and I hope someone sues them seriously.The Commissioners are a bunch of aloof wimps, and the parasites they appointed are Luddites.

"The MRO has sent Shiel straight to the Tribunal and left the length of any sanction up to them. However, the AFL has said their view is a one-match ban is appropriate."

At least A Farcical League is being open about it's blatant corruption of the "judicial process".

I'm sure he will go around again but I kind of hope May announces his retirement before the last round against Collingwood. That will give the MRO something to think about
