Coach Voss

Featured Replies

The Media believes he will make a senior coach, after a few years as a assistant.

The reality is that we wont be in the market for a coach then.

So Its take Vossy now or never.

Exactly.

If we don't take a chance on him, someone else will.

He might be a failure, but so might anyone else we appoint (Connolly?! <_< ). However, if the risk comes off, it will come off in a huge way and we'll reap the rewards for having the balls to make the move early.

He won't be available at the end of 2007... in fact, this might be our one and only chance to get him.

100% agree.

well we do have the jump....so we can only watch and see :-)

its going to be very interesting who actually gets/makes the shortlist, but who can jump the hoops !!

Well said Jaded......

While it is definitely a risk versus reward type situation, there are times when you just have to roll the dice and take your chances.

And for the Melbourne Football Club this is easily one of those times.

Will Gardiner and the board have the balls to do it though???

You would hope so, but I guess we will just have to hold our breath and wait and see :rolleyes: !!!

It was midway through the 2003 season and despite having won two flags we were going through a rough trot.

He got up in front of the entire playing group and told us he didn’t think he could trust us any more. Trust us to put our head over the ball. Trust us to keep running when we were tired. And trust us to cover for each other.

It was a real eye-opener. Our mate, our captain, was telling us we were taking short cuts.

The next week we had guys going out trying to prove themselves to the captain and we got back that absolute commitment to the team cause. For me it was the turning point of our year and played a massive role in the third flag that followed.

I’ve never met anyone as competitive as Michael Voss. He just loves competing.

It’s virtually impossible to find one phrase to describe him because he’s the complete package but if I had to identify just one it’d be “the courage to succeed”.

who ever Voss is paying to do his PR he's doing a cracker of a job !! :rolleyes:

I've just been watching Brisbane Lions cause the upset of the year by beating West Coast at Subiaco.

I'm now convinced that we need a new direction in our coaching - a protege of the great Lethal Leigh.

Anyone for Michael Voss?

Going on the footage shown on Channel 9 News tonight of the fight in Grandfinal week last year at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Melbourne, Vossy will at least be able to teach Melbourne players how to fight.

...if you detected a note of hesitancy with Voss,

it's because he's going elsewhere...

He's not going to white ant anyone.

There is only club with a vacancy. If he is going elsewhere he must have/be white anting someone!

Let's stop piddling around.

Young renewing list equals young coach with a hell of a lot to prove.

Pagan = NO.

Connolly = NO

Sheedy = NO

Reilly = NO

Any one of umpteen assistant coaches = NO

Computer says YES = Voss.

>>There is only club with a vacancy. If he is going elsewhere

Not necessarily Diesel.

Some coaches are now being white-anted - by their club's

committee.

All Voss has to do is keep a respectable distance. Let the pieces

fall into place.

Ask yourself. Who is on the skids and who can afford to get rid

of their present coach?

I doubt that Melbourne has the money to pay for him and

his professional team of assistants.

Still, money is no guarantee of success.

Akermanis says NO = Voss

I am not sure that I would trust Aker's opinion as far as I could throw him on the Voss argumnet, given he does have a reason for personal bias.

Voss lacks coaching skills - Aker

Indeed.

First Daniher is no good for consulting his leadership group about Aker, now Voss has no coaching skills.

Aker has a shortage of brain cells, that's more to the point.

Voss was a great player...........

BUT in terms of being our next coach, NO THANKS>

So many ditractions i dont know where to start.

This incident is only the start.

He never had to deal with the spotlight of playing footy in Melbourne,,, he was hidden awy in QLD....

He handled the Aker stiuation like a baby.... couldnt get along with him so made sure aker was excluded...

He has no coacjing experience as we all know, but yet half of you think he ll make a great coach...WHY! cause he was a great player. There s plenty of great players who commentat and write for the papers and have no idea. He played in one team away from melbourne thats it......

There are so many good candidates like Mckenna, Ratten and the Horse why do we want to be the club who takes the risk on the only bloke in footy arrogant enough to think he can walk in to a coaching job with no experience....

NO THANKS
