Of course it is. The greatest enemy of in-game skill execution is fatigue.

Same for me after two hours in the office. By 11am I'm stuffed. Couldn't even be bothered to kick it out on the full - let alone read another email crazier than anything posted on 'Land.

I believe that is one of our problems, the two runs a week they don't have to be focused.

There are some things that need structure, feedback and discipline (kicking). I want as close to perfection or at least everytime being switched on when practising, especially the day before the game, and working on the process after reviewing the previous game.

Bing181 goes at me because I feel that way about these giggle runs.

Bing181 doesn’t seem the type to go at anyone, least of all you. It’s just a difference of opinion. My old granny in Tipperary used to say the world would be boring if we all thought the same way.

This also has been my observation at Casey I have rarely seen any designated goal kicking drills other than what you have mentioned!

When were you last at Casey? And was it for the entire two and a half to three hours? You’ve not furnished a training report in ages so I can only assume you don’t get down there much nowadays. And that’s fine, no one expects you to get there. But clearly things have changed since you were last there for an entire session.

He reckons I am not qualified to make comments at odds to the highly trained MFC employees and the associated programs. They know, and I am yelling at the clouds.

Nothing wrong with yelling at the clouds, Kev. It’s therapeutic. So are voodoo dolls, but they’re way more fun 😉

Clearly!? So can your scribe detail the specifics of the drills in question? focus, personel, directions, equipment used, pedagogies, close skill sequence, outcomes?

Yes, clearly.

And in reply I said clearly things have changed, which they have: there is now a lot of goal kicking drills. That’s according to my friend who watches from behind closed gates at Casey and is oftentimes joined by another track watcher who’s also a Demonlander, so that’s at least two people who see the events at Casey regularly.

All I see is a lot of bickering between my reporters. Pull yourselves together for christs sake. Also I need one or more of you to get me reports from Casey. Clearly you don’t work much, hell you could drive each other down there. I’d suggest you ignore the locked gates.

Not flat at all, DZ. In fact, very upbeat. Positive vibes all ‘round. The players and coaches and training staff don’t dwell on losses and if they do they don’t show it* not during the flush runs anyways. They were the same (mood-wise) today as they were following the Lions game.

Today’s soccer match was the most hotly contested I’ve seen. They were very loud and more animated than usual and were thoroughly enjoying it. Apologies to those who hate hearing about the boys kicking a soccer ball around but this is a flush run and kicking a soccer ball around meets the brief in that respect… IN MY VERY HUMBLE OPINION.

*The only exception to this I’ve seen was the flush run after Gather Round, understandable since it was after the fifth consecutive loss.

Where was this hotly contested game on the weekend?

Where was the animation and loudness?

This is alarming information.

When did the expression "flush run" join the lexicon? It seems to have become all the rage on Demonland over the last few weeks. It's not a term I'd previously heard of until about 6 weeks ago.

Noted LDC. From now on we will use the term "light recovery" lifted straight from the website.

I wasn't there Tuesday Rif. I'll get the track-watcher committee together on Sunday for the "pre-match Captain's Run" and give them a good talking to!

No need to change on my behalf. I was just curious as to its etymology in reference to our training reports.

I find it amazing that from watching these sessions (& kudos to you) that you come up with these assumptions. We have a high performance team who would analyse these players to the “nth degree “ and I don’t believe one bit that any training would be taken lightly. My interest in reading these reports are how the players look mentally ..how connected .,what are the vibes like. I’d be extremely surprised if you could tell us anything relating to game plan etc ..& I mean that in a nice way otherwise every club would know exactly what we’re doing …

I’m not sure who the hell you think you are but the reporters I use are highly trained professionals. It’s not like I get them from some 2 bit football forum like Big Footy. If you want to cast dispersions then come through me otherwise button it cowboy.

Gee things are certainly getting interesting at training. Wish I could come down and enjoy the hierarchy battles.

Ive often said in appreciating the commitment, dedication and passion of all trackwatchers that if the players displayed the same qualities we would be unstoppable.

I think you are again proving that point.

And I do agree that the club should have operatives with greater abilities than Dlanders but once again I am impressed wiith the degree of resident knowledge. It would be good to have that discussion I was trying to encourage but can certainly understand the reluctance when likely outcome would be more frustration and shouting into the abyss.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
