Shaping up, now, for an 8th AA, to go into equal second all-timer.

AFLCA Votes | Max’s mammoth start

Max Gawn is sitting equal fourth in the race for the AFLCA Award

A couple of sub-Gawn games in round 2 and 3.

Standard Gawn excellence in rounds 1 and 4.

But these last four weeks have been exgawndinary.

Meek and Chol's lack of accountability (whether personal or a matter of assigned role) could open the door for Gawn to have another massive impact against Hawthorn this weekend.

Touch wood. Invoke the blessings of the beard.

How far did Max run in the last game?Seriously , he plays the whole ground for the entire game.An incredible athlete.

He's got an excellent record against Hawthorn. He takes marks for fun.

One of my mates is cousins with a Hawthorn leader and he said to my mate "we keep kicking the ****ng ball to Gawn every time, he's everywhere. We try not to, but he's just there". 🤣

Nah. I reckon he marks the ball coz he's too lazy to bend down and pick it orf the ground.

He’s clearly the best ruckman that has ever played the game. He’s on track for his 8th AA which will end the argument for good.

Arguable. Simon Madden was not only a great ruckman, but he also kicked 575 goals. Nevertheless, Gawn is definitely in the top few.

Madden spent a lot of time forward, though he certainly excelled when he was the primary ruck (a Norm Smith medal seems emphatic confirmation).

I'd take Gawn as first ruck without hesitation but would not complain if we slotted Madden in up forward and as relief ruck.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
