Heard a caller talking on SEN drilling T Morris about what he has been saying about the MFC which was quite entertaining.

One thing the caller said was something like Tom you are a Melb supporter why do u want Petracca and Oliver to go. His response was something like he hasn’t said that and that his job is to report on footy and clubs and THAT HE IS NOT A PASSIONATE SUPPORTER OF THE CLUB. We are just another club to him.

THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING, he doesn’t give a crapola about our club. Top bloke.

It was embarrassing and cringe from that Melbourne support.

Seriously, how hard is it for nuffy supporters to comprehend that Tom Morris job as a journo is to report news and facts which he has done most of the time.

Its amazing how incredibly sensitive some supporters are towards Tommy boy.

Gettable

Listened to it yesterday and there was no link to us whatsoever. This is the transcript from the bit about Simpkin:

“What about Jy Simpkin, another captain? It's unprecedented the amount of captains that are looking to move at the moment. He's exploring his options as well after a season spent playing on half forward and across the wing.

Yeah, four years to go left on his deal as well. And North Melbourne looking at Marcus Windhager to add to their midfield too. So it's tough to get into that midfield given the star quality.

Look, Richmond always had a little bit of interest after he had some links there as an under 18. But I don't think that would be the case now. He knows it will be a challenge for him to find a new home, given the price, given the contract, given the role.

But he's wanted to have a look regardless.”

Petracca is gone, if he wasn't he or his manager would be in the media saying he loves the club.

That's partly why we're into Flanders and Simpkin - we'd need some midfield experience. Not that they replace him, but we're not in rebuild mode

Simpkin doesn't bring experience - he brings one year 8 times.

Melbourne have asked veteran premiership defender Steven May to explore his trade options, only days after Steven King was introduced as coach. So there's one.

Perhaps King dosent want brain fades occurring reality is May great defender premiership hero etc but his actions since the flag have been poor, his time has come will be 34

I don't disagree but the correlation of May signing a 1 year extension under Goody, and then being told to back his bags under King sticks out like a sore thumb.

It's pretty clear May was told at his exit interview. There's even a whole thread here on May leaving which was started in (checks notes) August.

There was 1 trade rumour he was going to the Bulldogs that was shutdown immediately

I can see Petracca heading to the Suns for almost a straight swap for Flanders. I do think Flanders will nominate the Dees…

I do think Melbourne should be prioritising a Jed Walter move (if he is willing to leave Suns). With Dersken & Mihocek on the way I see no chance. But that’s the Surprise I would be aiming for. Walter is going to be Josh Kennedy on Roids… He’ll make Tilthorpe look like his shadow. lol…

I think Curnow somehow gets to his 3rd choice in the Swans…

I'm sure most clubs would prioritise a Walter trade if it was realistic. Unfortunately, its a fantasy. Not even a Petracca and first round picks would get a deal done. There is no way GC will part ways with their no.3 pick at 20 years old primed to be one of the best key forwards in the comp. I agree with you I can see him being Kennedy+ as a champion forward. He's a GC boy/academy player that they have developed with a huge ceiling, there is just no chance they would part ways with him now.

Plus he's grown up in QLD where his family is. I doubt a move down to Melbourne would be a priority for him either. He'll slot next to King in the forwardline next year and star.

Yeah, I love Tom Morris too. He's fantastic.

The only way to get Walter is if GC go all in for a flag and we give someone like Fritsch as well as Trac in some sort of deal.

Flanders for Trac straight swap would be close. Flanders only turned 24 in July.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
