Gentle flush session at Gosch's this morning.

Absent: May, Pickett (All Stars) McVee, McAdam.

Rehabbing: Great to see Kentfield back (much slimmer) - see GW's comments, walking with Tholstrup, TMac (suspect just a management thing), Viney (still being cautious with that rib cartilage?), Melksham (in and out of drills with lots of straight-line running), Fritsch also in and out of drills, but that is not unusual for him. Windsor definitely has a limp, and you can see the photos.

Train-ons: Culley and Yze. Culley looks good - as he has all pre-season.

Great to see Trac and Spargo back into full training, will be interesting to see if Charles has a run on Saturday?

AMW copped a corky (from Gawny) but was running it out and in good spirits.

Interested to hear the optics around Culley today, if you can.

Is Henderson still in WA?

If you mean "announcements" No, but hard to see the Club not taking the long-term injury option with McAdam and filling that list spot by Thursday.

By extension, are all the train on players still with us from what you can see mate?

Just spoke with Luker. He’s walking slow laps. I almost didn’t recognise him since he’s lost weight and has grown a mo, he approached me with a huge smile though. He’s feeling a lot better but it’s gonna be a slow and steady process getting him fit again. He’s really happy to be back and says he’s loving living in Melbourne

That is so good that Luker is back in the fold, does he look OK? Also great that Windsor is back on the park but his infection is taking a while to clear up and I think that the Kolt will find it hard to be on the sidelines for such a long period, also very happy the Spargiepants and Tracc are both back in full training.😁👍

Luker looks well but has lost quite a bit of weight as well as muscle tone. He’s not worried about it because he knows he will successfully get back to how he was pre-illness and he’s confident he’ll be in even better shape. It’s amazing how upbeat and happy he is.

Yes, but not much "contact" going on. A good session for him to re-join....

I saw some pretty hard “contact” going on, both on and by Tracc.

Any idea when he’ll resume training? That single birkenstock sandal is not inspiring any confidence.

No idea and wouldn’t ask him because his demeanour and body language said not happy. He did say he’s able to do some training (in the gym) which makes him happy.

Beautiful morning at The Paddock. Windless with a few less spectators than usual. There was a group of young, probably academy players in MFC gear on the sidelines as well.
Goody throwing the positions around, at one stage he spent 5 minutes on the board organising them.
Spargo had some time on the wing as did Chandler. Langdon had some time off halfback and pushed really high.
Fritsch continues to play a high forward role.
Brown and Lindsay matched up against each other, either as half's or on the wing. They broke even, as Brown finds space with arcs and separation, and Lindsay makes straight line breaks with quick steps, and finishes very well.
Sestan still off the backline and playing well, also showing structural leadership as he instruct others to position.
Most of the sim sets started from a throw in from the back point post. We cleared well and found lots of space up forward. The backline couldn't get to the contest numerous times. Trac has brought lots of poise to the midfield. Clayton was in good form, shrugging tackles with hip movement, and beating the scramble and congested packs.
Lever is doing well, as they play plenty of switches from one boundary to the other, a few times they went central. H. Langford missed a few hit ups and made a couple of poor decisions, though getting plenty of the ball.
Billings is playing strong and wants the ball off the wing.
Laurie is doing everything right as a mid.
Woey has a bit of pain through his shoulder, but continues to do most drills and sims.
They are happy and boisterous.

Is there a training session at Goschs on Wednesday?

Sorry Old Dee, I said there was training at Gosch’s on Wednesday but that’s not the case, it’s at Casey. Some of the younger players said “see you here on Wednesday” because they’ve yet to see this week’s schedule, according to my admin buddy who was there and is across the schedules.

My guess is that they’ve swapped the Monday and Wednesday training venues because the funeral some staff are attending is close to the city.

Yes.

This is incorrect. Training on Wednesday is at CASEY

Was he carried off or did he leave the field on his own volition?

Too soon?

He cartwheeled off.

It's serious when someone has to be put in a cart and wheeled off.

LTI vibes?

Idk but I don’t think so. I asked Goody about Shane being put on the LTI list and what that might mean for Jai or Roy. He said there’s about 20 boys they’re looking at “in the background” and that that’s not unusual since most clubs do the same. He did say they’re really impressed with Jai.

Just Culley and Noah Yze today - no Roy George. I think Jai Culley would be in the box seat to fill a spot if the Club places McAdam on the LTI list.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
