Bring-Back-Powell 15,547 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 To all those complaining about the umpiring, did we benefit from any dodgy calls or was it only Freo that benefited? Quote

Especially considering that we were 3 goals up going into the last. We were 3 goals up because we had the wind for 2 of the 3 quarters. Freo scored 1 goal in the first and third. We scored 1 goal in the second. The game was going to tighten up in the last and make scoring in to the wind incredibly hard. 1 goal 4 in the 3rd quarter was where we lost it. 1 Quote
spirit of norm smith 16,679 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Lost it in the 3rd quarter. Didn’t take our chances. Skills again were poor for most of the day Too few were carrying the team. How must McNamara feel ?? She starred and has at least been a bright light this year. By the way, 30 seconds and Kate Hore kicks it straight out of bounds in defensive 50. Very strange. Panicked. Skill error was horrible. Quote
Chook 15,069 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Over the last few years I've come to greatly admire Kate Hore's composure and leadership. That last minute from her was so uncharacteristic. She also didn't seem to be able to gather the group to resist Fremantle's momentum. A pretty bleak day for her, but hope she'll find a way to get the season back on track because it's pretty quickly going down the gurgles. Quote
John Lord 128 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Heading back to Melbourne. Feeling gutted and simply cannot understand the umpiring. It appeared that there were two completely different interpretations of the holding the ball rule. If Melbourne were tackled holding the ball if Freo was tackled ball it up. Home state umpires do not work 2 1 Quote

Given how far they can kick weird decision making. I was near the bench for the first half, a few comments from those there of the team not making the right decisions and they need to teach it at training. Quote

Jumping Jack Clennett 1,825 Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 The umpires certainly determined the result of that game. 1 Quote
WERRIDEE 5,638 Posted September 22, 2024 Posted September 22, 2024 Umpiring won them the game I thought you had to tackle them to get holding the ball. Massive game against Essendon if we are 1 and 4 it's season over. 2 Quote
