Players that should go

Recommended Posts

No there are some players that perhaps there time is up. Yze is clearly not one of them, he was on fire against the Bulldogs and was a pleasure to watch. Most supporters I know adore him (perhaps not yourself) and I love how when he has the ball we all go "OOOZE". Im sorry that my attachment to players seems to upset you, I dont view them as a machine to be chewed up and spat out when the going gets tough unlike some.

Like I said, lets all be happy little vegemites......

If we are talking food spreads...Yze is to MFC what chocolate sprinkles are to nutrition.....Seems to look good but has little substance of value. He typifies the marshmallow culture of this club.

May began next year we can get him to laps of the ground before the game and we can all call out OOOZE and then get on with the real stuff.

Ha-di-ha-ha-ha. You are clearly failing to realise what Yze brings to the table or do u just have a problem with players over a certain age? He lifted the team against the Bulldogs anyone could see that. Maybe at the end of next year his time will be up but I am not prepared to write him off yet

I'll just clarify a couple of things that have been said thus far regarding the Farmer trade. He had made his mind up to move on at the end of the 2001 season, but was adamant that Melbourne be compensated for his departure. I believe it was pick 18 we acquired for him, and the reason this was all we were able to get for him was that we needed West Coast to come to the party to show an interest to up his bargaining price. Unfortunately, they had Phil Matera and didn't show an interest.

Brad Green was picked up in the 1999 draft at 19 and had nothing to do with the Farmer trade.

You're right, I've got my years mixed up, I think we got Green via the Longmuir trade.

Do you remember what we received for Farmer and who we picked up? Was it Armstrong?

I'll see if I can look it up later for you, Jarka. I'm not exactly sure, as that was a very messy trade period. We picked up Bizzell, Ellis and Vardy, and picks went flying everywhere. I can tell you that we didn't pick up Armstrong with pick 18, as we didn't use it. We took Armstrong with 25. Incidentally, we picked up Miller at 50 or 52.

In 2001 ND we took

9 Molan

25 Armstrong

26 Rogers

55 Miller

Was there more to the trade in so far as draft picks we got?

Armas was poor solace for Farmer, all things considered.

Was that the year that pick 18 went through about 4 or 5 different clubs before ending up with Geelong and they picked up Kelly?

I was disappointed we lost Armstrong, he was a great player and lovely guy, but I guess Sylvia has filled his role in nicely. Armstrong has been doing quite well at the WCE, ah well another good player lost

Daniel Bell ... easily. He's got a long career in front of him and is already performing well in a backline that needs him.

help me Maurie why are we discussing Woewodin, thats in the past. As for Belly Im a fan, hes tough, works and runs hard, will be a valuable player for the years ahead.

43 games in 4 years does not make a great player. If Sylvia only fills his role then he has failed as a draft pick.

Its an amazing when an ordinary player plays in a very good team how he looks better than he is. Its quite deceiving you know. Essendon had a number of them in 2000 carried by the likes of Hird Lloyd and Fletcher at their peak.

Well I am not really an Essendon fan so I wouldnt really know but Armstrong was playing really well for the WCE towards the end of last year, havent heard much from him this year. I was shattered at the time though cos he was my fave player but I think we have done alright without him. Is he getting a game with the eagles at the moment?

I think you are close.

Miller was part of the deal of those two separate arrangements that got Bizzell and Miller to MFC and Kelly and Grgic to Geelong. Separate arrangements that would not have proceed without each deal happening. So they were informally linked. I think it was to do with GFC's salary cap.

joking ??

...not in the slightest.. those who can ,may recall I suggested we let him go at last contract negotiations. He would have been immensely tradable and good luck to whomever would have picked him up.. But that didnt happen..nor did my want for Hollywood to have met the same fate. We now have two expensive players who do not live up to reputed worth. Neither are tradable now...we're stuck with them til they expire.

Ooze is very flash in the pan. He is not near the top of the heap of assetts going forward.

Who is the second expensive player?? Well of course he isnt part of some 5 year plan he is aged, if he was younger he would be, but we have to maintain respect for our senior players, they are there to teach the younger ones as well we just cant offload them every time they get to 28

Why r u so down on arma?

I thought he was such an exciting talent when he came to MFC and showed a bit in the first 2 years.

He really struggled for whatever reason and was delisted. The Weagles picked him up n have brought that spark back in armas game.

I say good on arma for picking himself up and playing good football instead of calling him names and labelling him an ordinary playa.

There might b a bit of biase from my end though. Good bloke.

How can we trade a player whose contract is up?

Yze 's manager already screamed that this team player would go to the PSD if we did not bend to Yze's position.

I thought so too. But he did not deliver.

He got his opporunity from being in the right place at the right time when circumstance fell his way. He has made the most of it.

Does not make him a better player even if he is a good bloke.

I just dont understand how u can be so negative about one of our players who has generally over his career been super consistent. He is not selfish and he always puts in, he is an exciting player and has the ability to lift the team
