I won’t be able to report on training today since I’m chained to the Demon Army tent from now until an hour after it finishes. I won’t see a single boot lace let alone any players. Probs won’t matter anyways since today’s session is more S&Gs than a captain’s run.

Hopefully another DL-er or two will be here to report

COME INDULGE IN OUR FINE FARE!

OK don’t feel bad if you’re not here enjoying a snag in bread coz we are FLAT OUT. Despite the freezing cold weather and a loss on the weekend there’s hundreds of people here: Dees fans are made of tough stuff.

Players are about to come out and the excited little Dees are a beautiful sight to behold.

I would like to thank WalkingCivalWar as the food from the BBQ was beautiful.

You’re so welcome! I hope till b!ttch was nice and courteous to you 😉

The pleasing thing from trading is that Melksham was doing full training and was moving well.

That's great news.

Perhaps a return to Casey this week for limited minutes, full VFL game the weekend after and then a return for the Freo game??

Sounds promising. I am enjoying this season, not our best but a great opportunity to win game at a time, sneak into the eight and win a final or two. Feels more like seasons of old. It will be touch and go but I hope to enjoy each game.

Salem and Bowser did some training, but were mainly in rehab group. Jack Viney was in rehab group as well. Petty was in rehab group, but did run several laps of the oval, and was moving well. There is still 6 days to game, which may be needed for some of this group.

Hey Ditcha, I’m not any good at guessing crowd numbers but I asked a property steward and a couple of randoms and they said there was about 2000 fans there. Would you agree?

Yes, I would agree that there was about 2000 fans. It was great to see on a cold day.

I can confirm it is, as I try to work from home with 2 crazies asking me "what are we doing today??"

2,000 is an amazing turn out

Although not a good day to be on BBQ duty!  Woolies run needed!  :-)

Apologies if someone has already mentioned it, but was training at Gosch's Paddock?

Yes.

Just got home from Gosch's, thanks to all the Dees Army volunteers - my 2 monsters had a great time.

Youngest kept trying to keep up with Petty while he was running laps.

Was good to watch the training session, some of the end to end drills really exposed how poor some of our field kicking is.  Kolt had some howlers but knew it and looks the type to work on it.

I didn't realise how good Jeffersons wing spand is.  Unbelievable.  He could tie his laces standing up.

Had a brief chat with him and he reckons he isn't too far off.  Not sure if that's just his thoughts or the clubs, but positive to hear the enthusiasm.

Had a chat with Jed Adams too, suggested he move into the midfield and he liked that.  We agreed he'd win the Brownlow if it happened ;)

Lovely to meet you at the snag tent. Snags were delicious 😋

I was very impressed with the calibre of the young men who obliged my grandson’s requests for autographs and photos. Caleb Windsor was absolutely gobsmacked that my grandson had his number on the back of his jumper

i was also impressed with the bbq sausage team. Btw was it WCW who was accepting the payments for the aforementioned delicacies?

Melksham was training unhindered so I’d expect he’d be playing for Casey this weekend.

Form your observations is Petty any chance of getting up this weekend?

As maligned as he's been this year, he's turned a bit of a corner the last 2 weeks.

Very hard to say based on what I saw today aside from him being able to outrun a very energetic 9 year old

Completely off-topic but can I say that I love the Harvest Snap pea mascot at games. The mascot race at the Saints game was absolutely hilarious. I want that costume to wear to parties.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
