My mission today is to give Pup a big olโ€™ bear hug and tell him how proud of him we all are. And to hear straight from the *horseโ€™s mouth if Ricky will be on the park on Friday night.
ย

*not to be confused with other horse parts as per another thread ๐Ÿซฃ

It was the usual "flush" session.

All 23 from Saturday night there - although Viney was in a tracksuit top, taking it easy (not unusual for these sessions).

Spirits were good.

Salo did not do the soccer drill, but Lever did - looks ready.

No AFL listed players who played for Casey present today.

Melksham joined the main group (see above).

Hunter and Hore both did some warm-ups, but not the soccer, so neither seem ready yet.

B Brown in discussions with physios.

Is Ricky Lever a cert for this week?

This convo took place-

Me: Hey Ricky! Friday?

Rick: What about Friday? Whatโ€™s on?

Me: (eye roll) Are you playing on Friday?

Rick: If Goody picks me

Me: Yeah thereโ€™s three or four before you, right?

Rick: Yeah so Iโ€™m a roughie

Me: Hopefully a few go down between now and Friday and youโ€™ll be picked in desperation

Rick: Then Iโ€™d better make sure Iโ€™m on the plane on Thursday

ย

So I guess thatโ€™s a YES ๐Ÿ˜…

MH27 said theyโ€™ve told him another week or two.

JV7 rocking a footy boot and a Birkenstock. I asked him โ€œIs that a fashion statement? Coz if so itโ€™s pretty sch!tt.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚ He agreed.

He said heโ€™s got a sore foot but itโ€™s very minor and he will be right for Friday. He said he sustained it during Saturdayโ€™s match. Again, itโ€™s nothing to be concerned about.

BBB tweaked his knee again. Said itโ€™s not serious though. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Salo said he doesnโ€™t know if heโ€™ll be right by Friday. His exact words were, โ€œI hope so, but at this stage Iโ€™m not sure.โ€

Unfortunately it seems it's permanently tweaked

When youโ€™re posing for a pic and just before itโ€™s taken you say, โ€œDonโ€™t go getting the wrong idea. Youโ€™re a coach and Iโ€™m a fan but thatโ€™s all it will ever be. K?!โ€

Salem could have been an absolute star of the game if his body wasnโ€™t permanently letting him down. Such a shame.ย
Also great that Viney has a sore foot. Our midfield is absolutely loving life right now ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I took 13 videos. The sun was in my eyes so some of them are not great. This is my favourite one coz theyโ€™re all so happy and theyโ€™re really enjoying themselves. I also LOVE Chinโ€™s dramatic drop to the turf. ๐Ÿ˜…

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourneโ€™s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle.ย As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nationโ€™s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.ย

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
