I'm not the one complaining about umpires...

The most talked about moment of the North-Collingwood game, in the final minute, doesn't make it into the AFL highlights package.

History is being erased like a bushranger dragging branches over their tracks.

Ok, I’m out after this. It’s going nowhere!

Complaining about (perceived) complaining, is still complaining.

WHAT?

A huge deal was (unnecessarily) made of Lachie Neale kissing Abbey Holmes on the cheek after a postgame interview.

You finally got it just like it won't change next week or the rest of the year

Why should they does your boss drag in in frontr of you fellow workers if you make a mistake.

You know what I meant...

My job wasn’t done in front of the Public.
Pay the Umpires a serious wage with a weekly Media Conference.
i guarantee the mistake count will drop dramatically

You’d be in the minority then. I wasn’t even watching the postgame (coz Brisbane won) so I didn’t see it either but I sure saw it many times the following day.

Our once great sport has been tripe since the Stand Rule, No Third Man Up and nominating of Ruckmen. I used to look forward with enthusiasm to an intra club game,  preseason, all the way down on the Mornington Peninsula with the new players at the club and just for Hopes sake we may make the Finals that year. I Thank the Club for 2021 because my interest now is really waning. I've been to more NRL games than AFL games this year and that's a disgrace.

Yes a disgrace  more bum snifer games LOL

Sorry disagree about umpires doing a press conference they are not there to be attacked by the media, and paying them more won't solve the problem either, the afl can slow the game down by 10 interchanges a quarter foe a start.

Exactly! There is no big deal about it. But it got a ridiculous amount of attention on the socials. They even launched a debate on affection in the workplace. Ridiculous when the more pressing issues are being ignored.

Agree the stand rule is a joke players are not even brought back over the mark now, the ruck rule where two guys maul each other is a joke, umpires calling out who going up in the ruck is a joke, and I would have one more 25 metres kick instead of what we have now.

But if it was would you like it?

I see everyone’s favourite journalist Robbo has an article up about the state of umpiring. Hopefully this is just the start of a Melbourne like pile on, on the umpiring from the media.

The Umpires won’t be attacked if they adjudicate the game correctly. That’s the whole point. Make them accountable

Pay me enough money and it wouldn’t bother me

I would do my job as correctly as possible

Again by who's standard is that gauged by?

No you avoided the point but that's ok.

So the game is played at speed and real time where Cameras can use slow mo to point it out that's not going to solve it at the game.

I’m just curious about why no others in the media will call this out

Because they're all on the gravy train.

It's up to Clarko, the NFC and the other clubs to do that (when on the receiving end) but none of them will stand up.

You can apply the same to the MFC hierarchy who also went MIA on the entire Buzzy / Gus fiasco.

They're all part of the circus act and getting paid very well to remain there.

If you don't conply you'll end up an outcast and the $$ are so good not many have the courage to rock the boat.

Some will but i would suggest not before they seek and get the nod of approval from their boss to go harder than usual on it for headline / click bait purposes.

And the riskiest of all clubs to go after would be the filth as they most likely draw in the biggest $$ for the AFL ring masters.

Don't rock the boat!

This is not about my Job

This is about holding Umpires accountable to do a better job

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
