Big test for the AFL will they become serious with player penalties or will they continue down the good guy, big name player course

    Probably will given a week - club and media firestorm to follow - then appeal - downgraded to fine.

    The AFL integrity machine will be working overtime. 

    Nibbler, Jack Trengove and all the other “middle tier” victims from all clubs to this corrupt regime say hi.

    Like many, if it wasn’t for the Dees, it’d be local suburban footy for me.

    .....and when coupled with Pavlich, you just have to turn the sound off, as I do. At least others pretend to be unbiased. Not those two. 

    Ironically, neither were born and raised in WA but obviously suffer from Stockholm syndrome.

    As a Dees supporter I’d love Windsor to win it, but theres no way he’ll displace Wardlaw or Owens - and fair enough too.

    I am just pleasantly surprised that the usual preferential treatment handled out to AFL golden children didn't occur this time. Realistically, the already badly battered reputation of the AFL probably couldn't have survived another blatant miscarriage of justice.

    I also believe the decision will serve Harley himself well in his maturity and development.  Sure, it's a shame that it will cost him the Rising Star, but it also says to him, we know you are already a super footballer and a likely future great of the game, but you are subject the the same rules as everyone else. 

    This is one part of the whole thing that I hope is not a pipe dream.

The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

      We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

    • REPORT: Hawthorn

      The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there.When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

      The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
