Credit to West Coast, they were very good and far superior to us.ย
Unfortunately I donโ€™t think we have the list to play this new game plan we are trying to execute, and when you combine that with a midfield that has not fired a shot all year, something has to really change for us to contend.ย

Spot on, except I'd say it's 3 years we've had to work on an oppo key forward to get them to us, for nadda.

We've played Petty forward when he's a far better back, paid $600k to watch Grundy play VFL, and now are playing BBB and Turner forward simply because there's no one else.

I'd say our window is well and truly shut. One flag during lockdown from the best list we've had in 60 years. So disappointingย

Window gone, sounds ruthless as our only living premiership coach but why the rush to extend last year?? Havenโ€™t won a final in since 21 flag, canโ€™t help u juries to BB & Tmac but their plan B and recruiting of fwds has been abysmal & start me on the Grundy bsย

Rivers my god.ย  He's turning into the medium sized version of Frosty

When opening this thread was wondering how many posts before โ€œdanger gameโ€ was thrown up, didnโ€™t get past the first post. Seriously we should destroy the Eagles. Mainly interested to see McAdam play, honestly didnโ€™t know who he was being we picked him up. If he can bring some magic to our fwd line it will obviously make us more dangerous with both him and Kosi down there. Also when Kosi has stints on the ball we will still have some serious X factor in our fwd 50.ย
If we are going to try anything today letโ€™s try getting separation with our fwds and back them in one on one.

We're simply not that good

Yep.

We are not.

Last few games have been putrid.

Except for cats who have we beaten. Port?

And now this.

And who do we have at Casey?

I have not watched or listened but watched the scores as they changedย

I take it there are learnings to be had.

sugar coating a turred does not amount to much

Goodwin has absolutely munted this list.

Unless Gawn, Petracca & Oliver dominate every week we generallyย  lose. They have no quality support around them. We have no midfield depth for regular rotation or to mix it up. The same predictable [censored].

Forward of centre we've been terrible since mid 2022. Goodwin has done nothing but flood our list with mediocre forwards (at the expense of our midfield) - not addressed the actual problem.

We play slow because we are slow.

If he comes out and says we didn't get the game on our terms I'll spew.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Letโ€™s be honest, last weekโ€™s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper โ€” second versus seventeenth โ€” football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #32 Tom Sparrow

The rugged Sparrowโ€™s career appears to have plateaued in recent years. He makes the side on a week to week basis but he is unable to establish a foothold in the teamโ€™s midfield and arguably performs best outside of the contest in a forward position without being a goal kicker. He remains a good honest foot soldier but is not a star.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #33 Tom Fullarton

Fullarton managed a couple of games in the first half of the season but soon found himself back in the VFL. There, he found a niche at centre half back but it was not enough to retain a place on the list at seasonโ€™s end.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty

Entering 2025, it looked as if Petty would be secured in a defensive position, but plans shifted and he spent more time forward, averaging just over a goal per game throughout the season. It remains uncertain which area of the ground he will be expected to cover under the new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The dynamic small forward, possessing an innate ability to generate excitement with his explosive play around the goals, successfully transitioned into a role that afforded him more time in the midfield. The club also negotiated a long-term deal with Pickett, thereby eliminating any prospect of a move west by their star young player.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #37 Kade Chandler

For a few years now, he has been a reliable, hard working pressure forward, but in 2025, Chandler elevated his performance, becoming an integral component of the team with enough versatility to play effectively on a wing from time to time.
