Had 2 mates trying to get reserved seats in the MCC for the 3 of us, took them a combined effort of 6 hours to finally be successful . Anyway will be there to boo boo that thug. And cheer the boys on to victory.

The split is likely going to be 20k max of us and 65-70k of them. Any booing is going to get massively drowned out

Not necessarily. When they booed Grundy in his first game with us vs them, we drowned them out.

It was our home game.

This is the thing, likely going to be heavily outnumbered, any booing will be quite futile i'd imagine.

as an afl member...who logged on at 2pm

  • iphone on 5g - got thru after 15 mins in the waiting queue (but was slowly purchasing on ipad)
  • computer on ethernet cable to fibre to the node nbn - was still in the wating queue at 2.45pm

ticketek is useless

A few touted the idea of fans wearing imitation Gus helmets which I reckon is a cracker of an idea.

We’ll be wearing this year’s Big Freeze beanie though. Otherwise we’d be wearing the Gus helmets. A couple of hundred of us wore them during our round one match vs the Bulldogs but unless you were at the ground you wouldn’t have seen them since the camera didn’t capture us during the match and the commentators didn’t draw attention to it. (I guess this falls in line with the AFL’s desire for the whole Gussy travesty to just go away already.) We took it upon ourselves to buy them but the MFC were onboard with it and even ordered and paid for the “GUS” stickers we had on them…

Round 24’s looking good for a return of the Gussy helmets. (Soz AFL, we won’t have forgotten it by then, either.)

Would that make a difference?

Big difference between 35,000-40,000 of us last year and 20,000 this year

We just can't have this mindset we need to have as many there as possible to make as much noise as possible, drowned out or not.

Highest percentage of members in the MCC re clubs is Melbourne, would be very disappointed if we can't at least break even in that area

Will likely be 15K of us in the MCC, 1-2K in the AFL and 5-10K in the public reserve.

Yeah the MFC representation in the AFL members is deplorable when we play Collingwood, for obvious reasons.

Do you think the AFL member will sell out for Kings Bday?

Yep, was up to standing room only an hour after it went on sale today.

Was more than happy with my decision to get level 2 MCC this morning.

suspect 20,000ish of us 60,000 of them and 5k neutrals to get to 85k.

I wish there was some way to ensure only fans from teams playing are able to attend games.

( Especially grand finals).

Perhaps show their membership.

Also there are too many areas taken up by corporate boxes IMHO.

I'm certainly no socialist but when it comes to Afl...it should be available to the man.

And get rid of ticketfek. And those outrageous beer prices. Sheesh. A man ( or woman Stan) should be allowed to drink at his preferred sport without having to check his mortgage status.

End of rant. Thanks.

I was on at 10.20 and level 1 was sold out and level 2 at single seats.

Doesn't add up.

I mean it's not like pies fans are computer literate.

Love the guy in the middle with red shirt stealing a kiss while everyone's distracted. Thought I had that move patented.

75%+ of The MCC reserved seats would have been taken up my Melbourne supporters.
I got in at 10:02 and it was already selling really well, no surprises that by 10:10’it was single seats only on level 1.

was the same for the afl reserve.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
