Early crow but how good is Cooper Duff-Tytler.  Very much in the mode of Luke Jackson. Duff-Tytler is a fantastic young basketballer who happens to also be a star ruckman in AFL. 200cms.  Weight unknown.  Competes in ruck and works as a ruck rover all over the field.  Dees might just have to keep the future 1st round draft pick for 2025 for him.

We'll have old mate Whitey instead.

Thanks @Whispering_Jack

Saw Lucca Grego in the championships and liked his aggressive style and running.  Interesting to see him mentioned again in the TOTW. He attacked footy with competitive edge and won contested footy. Good one grab type of player.  Also noted he had played recently in VFL for Williamstown so must be well rated to get that. He might be a pick in the “50” range that could be a handy pickup.    Dont panic… plays like Zak Jones.

Looking at one Coates League team with which I have an affinity - the Sandringham Dragons which, in recent years has been a power house in the competition.

Yesterday, they lined up this way against the Western Jets in their Wild Card game …

… and gave them a belting.

SANDRINGHAM DRAGONS 1.2.8 4.6.30 9.7.61 15.9.99

WESTERN JETS 2.2.14 2.2.14 3.5.23 3.5.23

GOALS

SANDRINGHAM DRAGONS H Armstrong 4 B McKenzie M Reid N Sulzberger 3 L Ashcroft L Kennedy

WESTERN JETS L Hicks T McGuane K Williams

BEST

SANDRINGHAM DRAGONS N Sulzberger L Ashcroft M Reid H Armstrong L Trainor L Voss.

WESTERN JETS L Hicks N Asciak D Weeks T Burton R Pavlidis L Grego

Take it from me that the Dragons will again produce a number of draftees in 2024 including at the pointy end where father/son Levi Ashcroft (30 disposals) is a likely #1 nomination even though the Tigers can’t pick him up. Reid (32 touches) and Trainor also top ten prospects.

Well if we don’t draft him that might well  be Duff Tytties

May have been mentioned but Ricky Mentha (our Academy player) made the Round 19 Coates Tean of the week.

Riak Andrew scouting notes Wild card round 20. 1/9/24. Scouting notes. Could be a chance for a rookie spot.

#5 Riak Andrew
Tall Defender | 192cm | 17/02/2005

Stats: 12 disposals, 7 tackles, 3 rebound 50s

Having arguably been bested by Jobe Shanahan in their previous two meetings this year, Andrew faced the daunting task once more and kept Bendigo’s spearhead forward goalless for just the second time. The over-ager stuck tight to his direct opponent and was able to nullify his marking influence when Bendigo had the wind advantage. After some tough moments in term two, one of Andrew’s best moments was a rundown tackle late in the piece to exemplify his effort and intent.

Whose heading down the Moorabbin this Sunday?

Keen to see a bulk of the top 20 or so playing in these two back to back games

Sunday, September 15

Sandringham Dragons (1st Metro) vs. Dandenong Stingrays (2nd Country) @ RSEA Park, 11am
GWV Rebels (4th Country) vs. Oakleigh Chargers (3rd Metro) @ RSEA Park, 1:30pm

I'm not sure of injuries but list wise there's a lot of draftees playing:

SANDY DRAGONS

Levi Ashcroft

Harry Armstrong

Murphy Reid

Luke Trainor

DANDENONG STINGRAYS

Harvey Langford

Cooper Hynes

GWV REBELS

Sam Lalor

Jonty Faull

OAKLEIGH CHARGERS

Jagga Smith

Finn O'Sullivan

Tom Gross

Edited by Young Blood

Have clashing commitments otherwise would have been there.

Lalor may miss again (apparently hamstring complaint kept him out last week) for GWV.

Trainor may be done for the season with concussion. Marc MacGowan reporting in the Age that he has already missed games previously with concussion so that could be a watch come draft time.

Lalor expected to miss 8-10 weeks with his hammy.

Ouch, has had little luck with injury this year. A shame he doesn't get to battle against Smith and O'Sullivan on Sunday, but of the other Rebels have really stepped up.

On 10/09/2024 at 21:26, whatwhat say what said:

so there seems to be some doubts on trainor due to repeated concussion incidents?

Sounds like it:

'Trainor’s concussions are a talking point among recruiters ahead of the draft in November, where he and key forward teammate Harry Armstrong are the standout tall players in a midfield-dominated class.'

Why this Triple All Australian premiership Bulldog wants out of the kennel

Hmmm with injury concerns over 3 of the top 10 FOS,Trainor and Lalor along with Hotton who was tipped as a top 10 before his ACL I’m more and more inclined to think we should should split pick 5 if we can find a suitable trade.

Don’t think we would have been interested in Trainor but was hoping North would pick him and leave another mid on the board for us. Seems it might be a bit of a reach now with some concussion stuff.

No surprise but the AFL have ruled that we have NO access to our Academy member Tairon Ah-Mu in the draft next year.

Why???!? What’s the point of these academy’s then

Unbelievable …

NO ACCESS FOR DEES NGA TALENT

MELBOURNE will not have access to tall forward prospect Tairon Ah-Mu under Next Generation Academy rules when the 17-year-old hits his draft season next year.

Ah-Mu is a member of the Demons' NGA program but under the AFL's eligibility criteria, he does not qualify for the club to have any priority access over him as a draftee.

Ah-Mu kicked three goals for the Dandenong Stingrays on Saturday against the Gippsland Power, taking the straight-kicking key forward's tally to 21.5 from 10 games this season.

Ah-Mu, who has Samoan descent, is 198cm and also has featured for the under-17s futures team as well as playing under Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd at Haileybury College in Melbourne.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
