Carkton put Harry McKay and WC Jack Darling are who Rooy resembles. Harry P can play the regular forward whose absolute skills are elite in marking and one on one. JVR will gain greater strength with the competition down forward and also Darling is akin to the throwin ruck game. 

Fullars will still be very handy and with Gawny occasionally our forwards  are going to get the opportunity to get the crumbs and forward balls that will be created. 

We don't need to expand his role.. his role should purely be a power key forward that gives our team the best opportunity to kick a winning score.

Darling also resembles nothing like JVR. Not only is Darling a soft [censored] but I can guarantee JVR will go on to have a much better career then him as one of the best key forwards in the game in years to come.

    Mr USA May not like the response from Rooy though especially if he is in those hideous glasses. 

    Brilliant season coming up for Rooy with 40 goals plus. 

    I just feel he isn’t that player. He’s a Hogan/Reiwoldt type, and to get the best value out of him we need him in that 50 line as much as possible.

    He's a ripper. I liken him to Reiwoldt (Richmond version) in that he's slightly undersized as a key forward, but gives a serious contest every time.

    Thankfully he's not a DH like Reiwoldt.

    Bit harsh... why exactly is Reiwoldt a DH?  Speaks his mind and has articulate in the media, is doing really positive work for the new Tassie team going around grassroots clubs, listening to them, getting their ideas and collating for the taskforce.  Was a very good player to boot.  

    If he played for the dees, you would call him a club legend.

    *PS* your analogy of JVR is not far off though, although JVR looks a lot stronger and broader across the shoulders.

    We supporters forget he is now in his 3rd season and has only played 20 games which are very good for such a young player.

    With another pre-season his fitness should improve and his running capacity will make him a better player this season.

    I believe we should compare him to the Saints version of Riewoldt (Nick) who was a more aerobic player than Jack.

    If his form trajectory continues then we will have an excellent CHF. Something that we desperately need.

    I really feel he is going to be our next Gary Lion.

    At a young age, he really stepped up last year.

    Hopefully he has gained some more strength and can focus his aggression a little more.

    Gotta love that Roo chant. Here's to hearing a lot more of it.

    JVR has an edge to him and I can see him developing into a quality forward. I expect him to step up another notch in 2024.

    Very highly anticipated debut, reminded me of the build up to Hogan's debut years ago. Great to see his huge pack marks, aggression at the contest, very good debut season.

    Would rather see JvR do rucking only in forward, and as he becomes stronger could do what Hawkins does well and goal from forward ruck contests.

    Only thing I would like to see in JvR is to channel his frustrations when he's out-marked. Not sure if anyone noticed, several times throughout the season when out-marked, out of frustration tried to hit the ball out of the opponent's hand, from what I recall, missed every time but obviously would be a 50 metre penalty.

    Not a bad thing, obviously has a strong hunger to get better and beat his opponent at every contest, which is a good attribute as a key forward ❤️💙

    Well said. He bump on McStay and losing him for the Carlton game when we were already lacking forward depth should hopefully be a good learning lesson for him.

    Looking forward to a more powerful and cleaner 2024.

    Agreed. He was sorely missed in that game, could of been the difference! Looking forward to his season this year!

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

      The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day.       It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
