Yes, why not add another ageing key forward to either Casey or the rehab group? 😒

Great player when he can get on the park.

Unfortunately it's not very often, that's why he's available.

Would always murder us at every opportunity Sam Reid, If im not mistaken kicked 7 against us and did plenty of damage.

Extremely injury prone the lad is unfortunately, do we really need another body that can't stand the rigours of AFL footy?

I can imagine a player in his stage of career may not be too keen to change location, and if he has managed his money throughout a long career, might prefer to retire than relocate to a new club.

Interesting take from Gerard Healy - wonder if we have actually approached Sam.

What a ridiculous statement.  Our list spots are tight and we have BBB and Tmcd in the rehab ward every week to try to manage them.  Sam Reid would be in the same group of ageing injured forwards.  Good player when he was fit but not anymore.

Unfortunately has always struggled with injury 'norm'...but a very good player when he could get on the park.

He's one that would have been a champion I believe.

Kind of a Luke Jackson but one that could mark and play any position on the ground.

I rate Sam Reid when's he up and going. He had a decent 2022 and destroyed us/Tomlinson in a mid season game at the G.

Had we made the hard (but probably correct) call in forcing BBB or T Mac into retirement given they're both in their last year under contract, I'd have contemplated Reid as a back up. However at the same time that would be hypocritical given we would have just replaced one injury prone player with another.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
