It is an interesting conundrum. The good book says we are all desceneded from Adam and Eve. They had two sons. I'll leave the rest to your imagination...

One changed their gender.

So Kane is suggesting we have Umpires for the first three quarters, and in the last quarter we do not have any Field, Boundary or Goal Umpires.............a bit like now.

How often do you see an Umpire pay a square up free a few minutes after missing one.

Not against GWS, I didn't see it...

I'm confused..

Is this thread about Kane Cornes or how [censored] the umpires are??

"Kane being Kane" best commentator in AFL

You have to have a schtik to kerp the job and he's found one that sucks everyone in.

He throws it out ,along with genuine insights and opinions, and people roll up to criticise him.

He doesn't care..its just theatre; while many he upsets are irrelevant wanna be's without any real association with the sport.

On the other hand you have dead set idiots like BT or truly insightful special comments people like Daisy Pearce.

No one really talks about what they say.

Another decision I found bewildering was in the Brisbane game. Umpire made a terrible centre bounce which was going to be called back in any match. Oscar Mac stopped going for it knowing it was out of circle and should be recalled. Decision = block against Ocsar. Ridiculous decision and ridiculous performance by the umpire, including stuffing up the bounce.

This is one of by bugbears. It seems that the only way you don't get a blocking free against you in these situations is by getting out of the way and letting your opponent go up in the ruck by themselves. It seems now the umpires are under instructions not to recall the bounce unless one side has been severely disadvantaged which is a totally arbitrary call. The answer is obvious. Get rid of the bounce and then at least umpires will be picked on their umpiring ability, not their ability to bounce the ball.

2 Weeks ago Angus Brayshaw was knocked out Cold for 2 minutes, and then portrayed as The Villain…

I will never take any notice of anything  the AFL ever says again. I will support my Club, but the Governing Body is fully corrupt.
The Umpiring in last Friday Nights Final Quarter was truly incredible and incompetent. It was Cheating….

I'm not one for blaming the umpires for a result but there were some absolute shockers in there especially against the Giants. The problem with not calling frees when they are there in order to keep the game 'flowing' is that the teams get bolder with how they infringe on players near the ball and it becomes impossible to get clear od the contest to score.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

It seems like only yesterday that these two sides faced off against each other in the centre of the continent. It was when Melbourne was experiencing a rare period of success with five wins from its previous six matches including victories over both of last year’s grand finalists.  Well, it wasn’t yesterday but it was early last month and it remains etched clearly in the memory. The Saints were going through a slump and the predicted outcome of their encounter at TIO Traeger Park was a virtual no-brainer. A Melbourne victory and another step closer to a possible rise into finals contention. Something that was unthinkable after opening the season with five straight defeats.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.
