Tough day in the office on Friday but life goes on.

Other positives

  • We get to see Carlton pumped in a prelim (fingers crossed)
  • We get to see the orange team (our new second team) pump the pies (fingers crossed). How much joy will we derive if that bubble gets burst. If there is a God, he/she will make it happen.
  • With Port losing last night we moved up another spot in the draft order
  • I saved myself the price of a plane ticket and overnight stay in Brisbane

And it’s a beautiful day in Melbourne. Is it just me or did that seem like a long winter.

Go Dees

A Giants v Lions GF will renew my interest in the match.

Top 4 at the end of the H&A… just saying…

If port lose tonight we actually finished 6th…

I'm happy we finished 6th istead of 5th. Better draft hand and no-one cares about 5th rather than 6th. I think everyone understands that the reference was to where we finished after the H&A round, which is also an important metric. In fact we have finished 1st, 2nd & 4th the last 3 years H&A, with records of 17 wins, 1 draw, 4 losses; 16 wins, 6 losses; 16 wins, 7 losses. So it's been pretty enjoyable pre-finals at least.

For me one of the big positives this year is the way we have finished off games. We have been well-behind on a number of occasions but basically never give up. So much for Melbourne being a soft team (where do people get this [censored]?) 16 wins, 9 losses but our biggest loss was 27 points to Essendon way back in Round 5. Next biggest loss to Geelong by 15 points, Brisbane by 11 points, the other 6 losses all 7 points or less including 4 losses by under a goal. In many games have we lost crucial players mid-game but still come back to compete strongly.

I loved going to the footy this year so enjoyable as previously mentioned never out of games, watching our membership continue to grow, building expectation, seeing the new blood emerge McVee, JVR, Woey, Laurie I want to see more next year. Top4 finish sitting in a crowd of over 90,000 in both finals where the noise was breathtakingly loud and almost winning both, the sheer anxiety of those two games is still palpable in my mind and the slow walk out of the G surrounded by happy and sad supporters which seemed to take hours, the mixed thoughts of what could have been, the great plays, the errors that rattled my brain. Ahh to be a Dee supporter.❤️💙💕

McVee!!!!  He seems to just float over the field.  Such composure and natural talent.  Love him.

The joy on the face of  Woewodin and his family when he kicked his first goal.

Joel Smith's performance in Friday nights game and Shaun in the stands loving it.

Our women's team have come out firing in their first 3 games.  Get behind them!

I've been trying to decide if McVee made a mistake trying to spoil the ball in the play that gave Carlton the win on Friday.

Would things change if he instead just man's the mark and stops the transition? (Even if just a couple of seconds)

Not trying to be too critical and understandably he is still young.

He has been a  total steal by the MFC. Good Job Judd!

Had to make body contact, absolutely had to. A free to Docherty wouldn't of mattered.

A huge positive this year is our mighty AFLW side. The girls are in scintillating form, so exciting to watch. A wealth of talent in an even spread across the team. Well, almost even: Hanksy is a freak of nature. 😁

We (the Demon Army) have been supporting the W side all along but now that the men’s season has ended we can devote 100% of our time and effort to the W. Not everyone is invested in the W comp but those of us who are won’t be taking a break from footy anytime soon. ❤️💙

Forgot to mention, in case anyone wondered why there was no banner yesterday… on Thursday night we made the girls a banner for yesterday but it was deemed too windy to raise it.

Here's a positive: Selwyn Griffith.

After the struggle to fill Burgo's shoes in 2022 (From what we could see anyway) I thought he really stepped up to the plate this year. We were back to covering the MCG well and for most of the season we finished games very, very strongly as opposed to last season.

Whatever he's doing, he's got the balance right and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do in 24 with some new faces and hopefully a healthy list. Go Selwyn!

That’s a great pickup layzie we all take it for granted but you are correct we didn’t lose games because we ran out of gas most of our losses were purely lack of finishing skills.Selwyn Griffith take a bow.!!!

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

Once again inaccuracy and inefficiency going inside 50 rears it's ugly head as the Demons suffered their second loss on the trot and their fourth loss in five games as they go down to the Pies by 38 points on Kings Birthday at the MCG.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 13 vs Collingwood

It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
