Salem and Langdon aren't suited to our current style. Unless we return to 2021 form where our games are more open and free flowing, they will be liabilities. I honestly feel like we looked like a better team without Salem this year. They're both Ferraris (or try to be) in a garage of Mustangs and Ford Escorts. They just don't apply the pressure suited. They're downhill skiers. I honestly think Langdon lost probably 5-6 key battles the past two weeks that led to goals. He also kicked it out on the full like 5 times last night.

Langdon was a disaster, a total liability.

At the Clutch ,Viney turns ball over with a terrible kick on the right And Mcvee doesn’t get his fist to ball Game over None of that matters if Max doesn’t touch Oliver’s kick

Or if Pickett doesn't lose his mind in the first quarter, or Tracc doesn't keep kicking it to Weitering etc etc

Langdon has not been the same player since his concussion early last season.

Can we get Jesse back?

If you finish in the top 4, you're about a 25% chance of a flag. We've finished in the top four 3 times in a row and won one premiership. That's ahead of rate imo.

We were simply not the best side in it. Plenty of times last night I just shook my head at the poor skills (Clarry and inaccurate shots at goal), bad positioning (McDonald) and softness (Langdon) on display.

A team needs a good run at it to win a flag. We have only had that once in the past 3 years and we went all the way.

I am very worried about the psychology of this side though, as the inaccuracy and 50 metre penalties, on top of failing to settle after Brayshaw's injury last week indicates an immaturity that is uncharacteristic of a flag side. I'm also worried about the inexplicable selection decisions evidenced by picking Schache and not even subbing him in for McDonald for a different look.

Next year things will need to go better for us on the injury front, but there are psychological and selection things that need to happen or else we'll be leaving a lot on the table.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
