We're the kings of kicking out.

Good little article and analysis by David King (Still annoys me) which explains about the importance of our kick outs by Steven May.

I think this has frustrated fans by being so one dimensional but seems to be another of our key stat that's working well for us.

My wife is at this very moment considering how to write a personal apology letter to Steven May.

I suspect this is one of the parts of the game that we deliberately targeted two top tier ruckman for.

Interesting that King comes out with this article a week after we were discussing the lack of MFC coverage despite being in the top 4 scores from stoppages, scores from turnovers and scores from kick outs.

He's probably chosen the scores from kick outs as he can undertake a crude analysis of them and point to derpy derp May kick outs.

Can you tell I don't rate King's analysis? :P The Diamond Defence is about the only analysis of his I've liked.

I would love to hear an interview with our Performance Data Scientist Robert Younger ... l am almost certain our kick in strategy, kicks inside 50, and many other parts of our game plan are heavily influenced by his analysis.

From what I read he didn't account for the fact that teams like hawthorn are kicking out a lot more than us. But maybe that happened on the show.

Interesting. As I was reading it I wondered how he defined a "shot" to get the percentages and it was good that he recognised the issues there at the end with shots that don't either score or go out of bounds not being counted.

A kick to the top of the square - how do you know if that's a shot that has fallen short or an attempt to generate a high quality shot from that area?

Two things we would have asked for at the start of the year.

- Better kick-out strategy

- Improved set shot accuracy.

We're doing something right.
