Frosty is the epitome of 'chaos football', that has to be remembered. He's travelling the footy field at just under light speed - we are still, all gobsmacked. Onyer Frosty, have a good game.

I loved the joint.
Best stadium behind the MCG.
10 mins away with a relo who lived across the road for parking.
And caught some nice reddies from the dam.
Good times.

It had good vibes in the late 80s and early 90s. Finals there had a different feel than the MCG. But once the Southern Stand was rebuilt, Waverley seemed to age at lightning speed. Just wasn't up to speed. But you could tell that it was built "for footy". Some good memories there too. I was too young to remember the late 80s much but fondly remember the 94 win against the Pies by 5 points. A Collingwood goal was disallowed just as the halftime siren went. Pies fans were livid at the end of the game. And of course there's Farmer's goal in 98 vs Hawthorn. Always fondly remember Jakovich's performance against Hawthorn there in 94. Absolutely dominated but ended up with 4 goals 10 behinds. Quintessential Jakovich performance lol

Oh how the mighty have fallen on and off the field and it is far from finished. I can easily see them being sued for defamation. I wonder how their sponsors are feeling at present and what chance they never get to Keysborough?

I wouldn't boo any player that was part of the only premiership I have seen, but that's just me. For those that choose to boo, knock yourselves out in a couple of weeks.

I’m feeling punch drunk already 🥊

Unfortunately it always brings back memories of Jimmy Stynes giving away the 15 metre penalty in 87…..(and I was glassy eyed after the game).  Im still a bit shattered.

Hi everybody,

I’m actually out here at Waverley right now, still stuck in the car park from a game in 1986.

I think I can see you, I’m the kid in the St Johns Ambulance Cadet outfit with slightly blue knees.

Clarkeson shocked the footy world 5-6yrs ago when he declared he didn't care too much about clearances.

A real Einstein who decided to build a venue there. Obviously the land was cheap. I still remember the muddy carpark and the icy wind through the stands.

The original plan was to have had the train line extended for patrons but they never did......

Shocking stadium.

  • No transport
  • Built in a total rainbelt with around 25inches of rain more than the CBD!
  • A car park that became a bog with the slightest rain. Cars couldn't move.
  • 38000 cars all trying to exit out of one gate and get onto the monash freeway via one entry ramp
  • Shocking stands that sloped gently so that row 20 was miles from the action
  • A 10m wide boundary line that meant you needed binoculars if you were further back than 10 rows.

I could go on.....

I still can't get over they used white crow tomato sauce for your pies.

Would have cost so much more. They did well to get the crowds they did given it was 2 bus rides, a tram, taxi, portable folding bicycle, half a marathon and the back of a pickup truck.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
