Since we are having a whine...my bone of contention is playing at Geelong every Single year. Like clockwork they pencil it in. Pies never play there.

True but because we are not a big enough club yet, these things will continue to happen

Change will occur with sustained finals appearances and 2-3 more flags over the next 10 years*

Years and years of contending and we'll become a big club. Do that and we won't be fixtured down there as much (or, at all)

In the meantime, the club has to take the attitude of anywhere, any opposition and anytime.  It's not like the team can't win anywhere.

The list is a good one

But we need a generation of new Demon supporters to get on board and gradually replace our aging supporter base - and then lookout!

*Teams like the Cats, Pies and Sydney have proved that the window of opportunity can remain open indefinitely

Recruiting & list management is key

I do wonder if our 21 success adds new young support.  It must do.

We will get some extras but sustained finals works much better.  Even last year helps a lot despite going out in straight sets.  16 wins in the season proper will bring in new supporters

Everyone loves a winner but it's not all about premierships

Look at the Pies for instance ... 2 flags in 65 years but they play finals a lot. Their supporter base is huge but we can catch them

Might take a while though!

And West Coast away every year.

Our only fixture gripes are west coast in perth every year and geelong at the pub ground every year.

our fans don’t turn up to night games but do turn up to day games. Sunday 3:20 games are good drawing for ratings and crowds.

considering we also have two Monday games I’m within 7 weeks you cannot expect to be Friday night very week. Personally I don’t like Saturday games very much especially at the g.

Hawthorn is not a big club yet they never play down at the cattery. They dont seem to play all that often against eagles in Perth what about lions at the gabba?

Melbourne cop all this garbage every year. We play our second interstate game in r4.  We played lions twice at the gabba in three H&A games  r23 and r2.

We have a much better record away from the G.

And Optus holds no fear for us. It’s hallowed ground now. An annual pilgrimage is fine with me.

We have had seasons with backloaded interstate games for the past 6 years and they are killers. It is so much better to have 5 of the last 7 at the g. Essendon got sent down there this year and hawthorn won’t because of Easter Monday being a geelong home game.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
