Yes, it's another one. Tide us through this final week (well an hour or so of it...) And, @Demonstone, may I suggest it's time we had a dedicated quiz thread (destined to rival NoT$NoB$!) which I believe you should have the honour of creating! You know you want to...

Meanwhile, here 'tis:

What if Harry, Kozzy and the 2 Toms had not been available for the 2021 AFL Grand Final and Jayden Hunt had come in for Harry, Bailey Laurie had come in for Kozzy, Jake Melksham had come in for TMac, and Nathan Jones had come in for Tom S? Don't worry, though: the team is otherwise as played, and we win. Still 2021 AFL Premiers. Phew!

But this scenario completes something for the Women's team that duly become AFLW 2022 Season 7 Premiers.

What?

No it's not beyond you! You're sort of on the track, I think!

However, it's 'only' bronze left on offer; as sort of foreshadowed, we already have claimants of gold and silver: @mo64 has gold, by just 'Salo' minutes over @Demonstone.

I've reviewed the tape. @Demonstone's reply took in a response to my dedicated thread suggestion and some other interesting side aspects to the theme. Reckon there was 3 minutes of composing right there. And your entry came as a question, @mo64 - a look back over the shoulder on the line, as it were. So I'm declaring a dead heat. Congratulations, both!

Bronze is burning a hole in my pocket.

Thought I had posted this yesterday. Sorry all.

Thanks for hanging in there, my 2 BigWs (@WalkingCivilWar and @Witches Hat) - and any other puzzlers out there.

You'd think I could come up with any number of clues but I'm struggling! So I'll borrow 1 of @Demonstone's interesting side aspects: There were just 6 candidates in the men's team for the 4 unavailabilities that would allow the 4 particular replacements that would complete the 'something' for the women's team. DS noted that the other 2 happened to be not only our positional bookends, but our numerical ones as well; Maysie and BBB! Any other outs would have left the 'something' incomplete. (I could have outed Stephen or Ben; the 4 I chose were merely the closest to like-for-like for the 4 who had to come in.)

Alright, @WalkingCivilWar, here you go - your pain has echoes of mine, wrestling with @Demonstone's 'Zinger' puzzle.

Before I do, though, congrats to BigW#2, @Witches Hat, for taking the bronze, with the benefit of my 'What the huh!?' clue. But, given the gold sharing, I'm going to un-Olympically upgrade it to silver, so bronze is still available to you, BigW#1! No need to hurry (unless there are any Stephen Bradburys lurking... @dl4e? @layzie? ); I've doused the fire in my pocket.

So, from my last (disputed) clue...

'...2...number...1...6...4...4...2...numerical...4...4...'

Also, in 2(!) earlier posts, I did refer to the minutes separating mo64's and Demonstone's entries as 'Salo' minutes...

I'd have to admit it must be looking as sensible as this to you at the moment:

I can honestly say I've never at any point come within 50 miles of solving this.

But I crave more winners! So how about this?

If you haven't guessed by now, it's about the NUMBERS.

Specifically, the incoming numbers and the numbers they replace.

Time for a big clue or the big reveal, @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew?

Cometh the footy, cometh the amnesia.

But now reminded, it does feel so yesterday, Mr Stone!

Still, if anyone's still interested - @WalkingCivilWar? @layzie? @Turner? - what complete set of premiership numbers would the men's premiership team contain if you put the numbers of the four replacements into it?

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
