Really interesting watching this. Hard to tell how we are doing because the Saints are seriously struggling. Ross Lyon has a huge task ahead.

Our general game play, positional strengths and all-ground defence is looking good. Hitting targets across the ground looking good. Our choosing and hitting targets who are 25 - 40 metres out continues to be a work in progress. A bit disappointing.

Chandler, Hunter and McVee very, very  impressive.

Grundy looking rusty. I am really wanting to see JVR, but TMac and Brown doing everything right.

Kicking skills.  Will be our most exploited weakness yet again in 2023.

May has 3 weeks to stop [censored] himself under high kicks. That was awful.

The game day thread never fails to disappoint.

Pickett’s ball use has been poor. I get he’s keen to impress but he has to take better options and not try to reinvent the wheel

Lack of two way running now is costing us. I am giving them a break because it’s 900 degrees.

A few real howlers in the past 3 mins going into half forward from people like Kozzie, Chandler and others.

If you aren’t seeing May drop his head and spill marks when going back with the flight way too often then you aren’t watching close enough

Good to see we changed up our forward entries, we go to left pocket....oh wait

Ground announcing saying 5Q’s to go. That would mean a full game for the Casey lads

The old 'let's stop playing after we're comfortably ahead' never fails to disappoint!

Love how Richo said during the week that this was something the boys had been working on to fix over summer.

Let's see it then ey.

I’ve been sitting comfortably in the shade and I’m finished.

If the Saints want to wake up and bust a gut now in this heat them all power to them.

It’s 11,000 degrees and a practice match.

In any other conditions I’d agree but it’s [censored] hot.

Saints definitely had the scoring end and we had Oliver at half back, plus a few ordinary turnovers. It’s not all effort

The commentators keep saying it's 8 periods today, but all the early official info was only 6.  Anyone know whats actually going on?

they changed it yesterday

Because they looked at the forecast and went “we need more heat stroke”

Petracca with a set shot early in the 4th. And he....  nails it.   73-38

Kick to hot spot where there was lots of numbers.  ANB had kept his width though.  Ball got out to him who went back to Gus who had drifted forward who dropped it into Trac about 35 out.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
