Did anyone notice if JVR was training with the group last week in the Thursday session?

Yes he was. Last week it was JVR, Joel Smith, Bedford & Dunstan.

A few weeks prior I went to a training session that Player Sponsors were invited to and he was training as were all the players selected as emergencies. I assume this is the case for every Captain's Run.

At the risk of talking selections one would presume no JvR due to lack of crowding around him for congratulatory announcement.

no unforced changes it seems from training run

l have it on very good authority he isn't playing this week

Going by that looks like a No Change.

I got a feeling JVR plays…

Understand the theory of don’t let someone debut as sub during H&A.

But for a final I think you can make an exception. Would still be a positive experience for JVR even if not activated.

Also, Hunty came to the boundary to fetch a ball and I said, “heya Jayden!”

He said, “hey, how're goin?” I said, “I’m good, how are you?” He said, “yeah, I’m alright” and now we’re best friends. In my head anyways.
I was standing with a lovely fellow DL-er at the time who can vouch for me that JH and I are now BFFs.

Say hello to BBO pls WC

Does that include not being sub?

If there is a hint of rain they will go with a small.

Didn't ask that specifically ... am guessing we would have a small for sub though or Smith who can play any position on the field

Lever was out on the field in full kit and marking and kicking the ball around and on the periphery of drills.

TMac was not even out there.

Unless Choco can be in two places at once then no. Unless we are foxing and omitted certain players then we will line up either exactly the same or Bedford or Smith might come in for someone. We don't tend to be the foxing type. I'm betting No Change will be announced tonight.

Yes just some 'If wishes were horses' nonsense from me Andy.

Expecting T-Mac & JVR to go around again at Casey.  Not expecting much to happen on the changes front either although Bedford & Smith sounds interesting.

Hopefully that doesn't mean Fritta is out.

Smith in for melksham is my guess as the only change.

Ah yes that makes sense.  Bedford?  Who goes out though?

How was max looking? He is a people person to so surely he was interacting with the fans

Looked liked he was focused on the team to me, when out on the paddock. Encouraging and applauding, any players near him.

I expect he will be focused, leading by example and ready to go.

I didn't see him leave, but assume he would have signed and interacted with a few of our younger supporters, and got back in the rooms quickly.

Sharing some joy, but his role is to help get the best out of the players and himself.

He signed a few autographs by the fence but didn’t hang around for long. He looked like a man on a mission the whole time. He was defs in the zone.

I don’t think he will drop milkshake.

I think the only likely change is Bedford for Spargo, if Spargo doesn't get the all clear.

I understand he can play without a voice, but a specialist may deem it too dangerous if he cops another blow to the throat. Could cause serious long term damage to his vocal chords, which is obviously not something they will risk.

Especially given he does have a tendency to drop in tackles.

How about the person who served you?  Was he/she outstanding too? 😁

Agree. His month prior to last week will keep him safe. Plus he was part of a successful forward line against the lions R23.

Particular shoutout to Gus, Mayzie, Fritta, Salo, Viney and Brown for being so generous with their time and signing and taking photos with the fans.

You left out Melksy. He was one of the last to return to the rooms. No biggie, it’s just that *some on here are quick to sink the boots at any opportunity, so it’s cool to give him credit for this sort of thing.
*not referring to you, Ben. Totes referring to the perennial Melksy bashers. 🙄

Been reflecting on why there wasn't a 4th emergency training and goodys interview where he seemed to suggest tmac was a chance ie. 50/50 this week but even better next week or something similar ... putting two and two together l wonder whether tmac might be having a fitness test somewhere away from the media and onlookers

Surprised Bowey is not at least an emergency

I would be flummoxed if there's a Lander that doesn't think Uncle is loverly WCW.

Although you being with him might explain all that BFFL nonsense with the boys as i'm betting there was probably some wiffy clarety coloured substance in your thermoses (note plural).

Certainly nothing like the bogus labels plastered on the front of 'em which read "Uncle's Loverly Hot Chocolate" & "WCW's Deviled Coffee"

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
