A notible absent name from this list is our NGA prospect Finn Emile-Brennan. Tipping he well make it past pick 40 and therefore free to us should we choose.

Point is that is he considered draftable by AFL clubs? You only get invited to these combines if a certain number of clubs are interested.

Correct and entirely possible he isn't rated.

As it stands we have picks 34, 40 (from adelaide), 52, 64 and 70.

Thanks Nascent as it stands that gives us four of those top 65 picks and if Jacko pulls the pin our hand should improve dramatically just hoping that we go after a tall forward and half decent ruckman.

I doubt we will use picks 54, 64 and 70. It will be interesting to see what picks we get for Jackson and how we land Grundy.

When are these being held?

The main AFL Draft Combine involves three days of testing from October 7-9. The State Combines take place thereafter, usually in the following week.

Just in case people are wondering why there hasn’t been much in the news about the AFL Draft Combine, it’s because the first two days were taken up with interviews and medicals. The actual athletic testing is today.

Watch: Draft bolter’s stunning act after collapse

Dan Batten of the Herald Sun reports on a “stunning moment of sportsmanship”  from draft hopeful Max Gruzewski who sacrificed  his own 2km time trial at the Draft Combine to come to the aid of Vic Metro’s Lewis Hayes after he fell at the finish line.

Gruzewski is a key position tall who can play both back and forward and the word is that Demon recruiters have spoken with him during the season.

That kid falling over prior to the line is one of the most horrible things I've seen. Guessing he is 17? Should be enough to make us all reevaluate how we speak about young people in this forum.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
