This bloke is a deadset [censored]!

Yes he played well today, but why the hell would he celebrate a goal by pointing to the infamous tattoo of his daughter?!?!?!

This is just pure stupidity! He is insighting the crowd and making himself look like an absolute dick!

Someone will clean him up before the season is out.... And hopefully they do a good job of it...

It is bad enough that he got off his suspension due to allegations of provocation.... But to then come out the next game and make a big deal of it is just ridiculous!

Play footy moron! You are a good player but you will be remembered for your stupidity rather than your ability!

he jus kicked a goal kept showing the crowd the tat of his daughter , he is more hated by me then farmer, and thats saying allot

What on earth does Melbourne FC and it's supporters have to do with his daughter and the selwood case in general? Headland should go spill his guts to the West Australian or go front the WCE cheer squad if he wants to incite people. The only reason people were booing him is because he copped half a dozen weeks a few days ago and he's on the field today.

he is a [censored] and i hope players keep sledging his so called tattoo!

I was there today

left at 3 quarter time, but thats another story

I took great joy in sledging Headland over the fence. Yes I said his tat was patheric. Yes I called his daughter ugly. yes he deserved every bit of it.

I can not stand the [censored]

I was sitting next to the Dockers cheersquad, and they are as soft as their players.

I actualyl had fun today, despite the loss.

I also gave that [censored] Chris Tarrant a mouthful for injuring Belly. The Docker supporters thouhgt tarrant was oretty bloody good when he took an uncontested mark in the goal square while bell lay on the ground

Agreed with everything except the bold part

He played well today, i knew he would, but he didn't deserve to be out there. Pointing to something like a tattoo of a daughter, wife, mother, father ect. IMO is appropriate if that person is undergoing some kind of hardship at that time or has died (ala Travis pointing to painted armband at Troy's memorial game). But what Headland did by pointing to his tattoo of his daughter, to me, said "this is why I'm out here, so screw you".

He was lucky to be out there, he played well and he should've just gone through the game quietly. The way he acted felt like he spat in the face of every Melbourne supporter who came that day. I can't wait for the day when he gets belted into oblivion and is out for the four weeks he deserved.

What a massive tool. Was celebrating playing his first good game in YEARS against a soft side who have none of their best players playing.

Hack player, one of the great dissappointments. His garbage today was proof positive of his mediocrity. Come back and play us at the G with the 10 players we have out...

Headland you are an AFL nobody sunshine.

Im not one to hate headland at all. I was embarrised about melbourne supporters booing him. Very embarrised and am thankful he had a good game. Shame on you thoes who booed him as the selwood case HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU

If it has nothing to do wil us why is he looking at our supporters kissing his tattoo?

Um lets see...cause all he could hear all day was supporters booing him. He deserved to shut u all up and prove u all wrong.

we were booing headland because he was not meant to be out there

he is a mentally weak, soft thug

any sympathy, any respect he may have gained after last week was shot to peices after whoring out his daughter as an excuse to get off 2 tribunal charges

Haha that is an excuse i was waiting to hear...and a sh** one. You cant blame the dockers for using any excuse to get their players off. Jesus self ritchious supporter that bag collingwood members yet are just as bad.

That's exactly what i thought as well, though i wouldn't quite have put it like that. I might've been ok with it if Selwood had gotten fined or suspended, but even then nothing should give you an excuse for belting someone. He used his daughter as an excuse to get of rather than standing up and saying, "i made a mistake and i let my teammates down" he took the gutless option to use a "but he started it" explanation.

Um lets see...cause all he could hear all day was supporters booing him. He deserved to shut u all up and prove u all wrong.

And for the record, I started booing him AFTER he pointed to his tat.

and whats wrong with booing players we hate with a passion? and what did he prove to us today? that he is a true and genuine thug and a [censored]! yep he proved it well..

occo, you should be EMBARRASSED about your spelling mate and Headland is a [censored] and a [censored] who never gets his own ball

Well it didn't work very well then did it?

Headland was booed because he shouldn't have been playing. Not his fault I know but who at the AFL would listen or care with the spin like they have put out this week.

The booing got decidley louder when he gestured to his tattoo. After complaining last week he turns the tattoo into part of his on-field antics! Unbelieveable! Just a complete contradiction to what he should have done. A grade moron.

The big news over the week was that family should be off limits and out of the limelight, yet by doing that he brought his daughter back into the minds, and if he doesn't want her to be used against him why did he get a massive tat of her in the first place, then illegally go after Selwood, and then after all that has happened started kissing the tattoo.

Obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed.

I aint embarrised about my spelling at all as i have got no better with time

Headland was best on ground today and we have to cope it sweet. Despite the fact he is a first class [censored].

next week farmer takes back that title:

I was sitting in the Redlegs area and he was copping a fair bit of the stock standard moronic supporter abuse so I assume that those closer to the fence were doing the same. I don't have a problem with his response.

If there is one positive to come out of the Headland/Selwood incident it is that sledging both on the ground and in the stands will be policed more closely. And that as part of that comments that are disrespectful of women will be viewed in the same manner as racist remarks.

Well I was there today and I booed him. He should NOT have been out there today. As a Dees supporter I am certainly not thankful he tore us apart today.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
