He is all elbows, knees, angles and awkwardness. There is little smooth or fluent about him to attract people to notice and admire him. These attributes work in his favour as opposition players have to find a way around his marking the ball at its highest point, and his natural body movement putting people off balance.

I LOVE his long straight runup, and I am bewildered many other young forwards don't attempt the same. He runs in a straight line towards his target, and kicks it in that line, while being at a slow running pace.

Having said all that, he makes our forward 50  effectiveness 30% better just by being there. I rate him very highly and still cannot believe the stupidity of North to treat him the way they did, and then let him go the way they did.

I’ve been promoted to sharp-edged scissors! Round-edged scissors are SO last week. 🙄

A lil sneak peek…

But a pinky promise first. 🤫 Don’t tell anyone! Ok everyone, pinkies in!

Our illustrious leader asked me to choose from this side to cut out or BBB’s pic. Since no one wants to see  BBB’s hair trimmed, I chose this side. 😁

I’m sure the irony won’t be lost on him and the Kangas fans, gave great service to them so they should be giving him a cheer at some point (though not holding my breath).

Would love nothing more to see him kick a huge bag and remind them of how good he could be.

Congratulations BBB I can’t believe how excited my family were when we heard that You were coming to the Dees. We hated and respected you at the Roos but what a revelation you have been at the Dee’s finally made our forward line click. 150 games I hope that you make it to 230. Well done Ben.!!!

It’s been said multiple times but just how good has our trading been! Lever, May, Langdon and Brown. All of them add so much. When he came bk in last year he gave us the final piece in the puzzle imo.

How we got him fr a mid second rounder still surprises me. Great bloke, great footballer. A pillar in our premiership side. congrats on 150.

Agree.

Alot of credit really does need to go to those who sealed these deals.  Not only did we get it done with a reasonable exchange of picks in pretty much all cases, but the efforts to convince these players that they should chose the MFC over the many other potential suitors shouldn't be underrated either.  It's not like we were exactly a destination club until 2021.  From what I recall, most players that have arrived at the club all stated at the time that they were super impressed with the approach and vision outline by Goody in their talks with him, but I dare say there are probably also others in our admin that quietly did a great job behind the scenes as well.

I think that Melksham and Pig Dog could also be added to that list of great trading and I can hardly think of a trade bust that we've had in recient years.

Congratulations on Big Benny Brown reaching 150 AFL games! Well and truly deserved!

Would love to see Big Benny Brown kick 10 goals against his old side North Melbourne! Which will probably be more than their entire team kicks.😁

But I will settle for 6 or 7 goals.

I'd argue that Brown joining the club has had the sort of impact that rivals the impact of us getting May and Lever. He was made to earn his spot last year but ever since he's been a 'best 22' player we've been a considerably better football side.

Absolute gun 🔫 and a nice bloke

Hope he kicks a bag on the weekend

I remember in 2020 when we were after him whilst everyone else was after Joe Daniher. He really opened up our team's potential and above all else he's a really good bloke. So wrapped he's a Dee.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
