I’m just going by what another DA member said at 3:30 this arvo: that the MFC had just announced all GA tickets are gone.

A link to theticketmerchant.com ( whoever that is ) is still offering GA tickets

It looks like there's still plenty of GA at the top of the Ponsford and Northern stands

Soz for misinformation. My fact-checker had the day off today. 😁

Silly question, but how would interstate “armchair” members get finals tickets (legally)?

Curiosity question and apologies if already addressed earlier.  I understand there are various levels of MFC membership and am aware amongst them that you can get ‘priority access’ for finals tickets and some of the higher tiered memberships  give guaranteed access to a GF ticket  (if we make it)

Thinking  just a little ahead here. What happens if say  we play Collingwood in a earlier final?  We have around 65k members and I’m guessing they have 80k plus.  MCG capacity is say 100k and after say allowing say 50k seats allocated for MCC snd AFL members (I am just guessing these numbers) that leaves say 50k left for footy club members/ general public.  Even if only half the members from both clubs wanted to get a ticket 72k people would be chasing 50k seats.

So the question is how would the ticketing system/ process work?  It would appear that you would either have to-

a) be first in first served or

b) there would be some ballot system

i have no idea how it all works. Does anyone know the answer?  Once again apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere.

very rarely a sell out in the pre GF finals at the MCG

Even though members have priority to buy tickets the substantial price sees many back off

There's also the series ticket issue. If the only Melbourne PF was between Pies and another Melbourne based team a sell out might be possible

Can I ask... when you guys say "general admission is sold out", does that just mean for non-members who are trying to buy a ticket to the game?

Or would it also apply to those with general admission membership, like me?

Given we have to wait till 7.50pm tonight before we can even get the mobile membership ticket, it'd be a bit annoying if regular punters who can already buy them online have taken all the seats.

It's not sold out, there are still heaps of seats at the top of the Ponsford and the Northern Stands on Ticketek. But you are correct a GA membership entitles you to the same pool of tickets as the general public which puts you at a disadvantage if you have to wait for it to appear on the mobile app. I guess the other option is using your membership barcode to "purchase" a GA ticket through ticketek?

Thanks Gonzo.  I'll give that a try next time.  Glad to hear I can still get a spot on Friday. Quite like sitting up there anyway!

There should be a bit of GA available for walk up, but it will only be on the top level (Q). The GA allocation isn't revealed until the day before the game, since they're trying to sell as many seats as reserved at the higher margin. So you can take the punt on Friday with walk up GA seats, though I would get there an hour before to make sure you weren't at the back row. Alternatively, check if your membership barcode allows you to reserve a seat for $10, otherwise you'll have to reserve a seat for the higher price.

I think level 4 at the G is easily the best place to see the structure of how we play. The amount of running Lingers, JJ and ANB do makes me breathless (but it might also be the altitude, beers, and sausage rolls).

if you have a ga membership you can just rock up and then search for a seat in the ga areas

alternatively you can upgrade a ga to a reserved seat using your barcode on ticketek(?) and spend some money

and finally the afl could declare it a no-walkup game and you'd have to go online to get a ticket

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
