My red herring was the saying. I kept thinking of Rolling Stones or Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones.

🤷‍♀️ Maybe a case of premature celebration on our part.

Tick! (though that was one played by mo standing at the non-strikers end, I'm afraid...)

I feel like no. 11 is Shane Warne because shorn can mean cropped. But I can’t figure in the Wayne part of it.

A non-striker getting a run on the board? That’s just not cricket! 🧐

That’s clever! I didn’t even consider bread. I was going down the path of crumbs! as in, an exclamation like darn it! Or shucks!

Apologies.

Late-night (early morning!) summary of the outfield catches:

1. Swamp-ed Spanish fishing boat? No-one yet (apart from 'reive', this one's the most esoteric, I guess...)

2. Crumbs?! @reynolds46

3. She pretends to go up the hill? @Demonstone

4. Tapestry shop? @mo64 (at the non-striker's end, and 0.1 to @WalkingCivilWar, not being aware of that)

5. Artist Ken's 'Denim Period'? @Demonstone(minus 0.1)

6. That man waits in line. @mo64(and 0.1 to @WalkingCivilWar)

7. Rustle, saying, '______ ___  stones...' @WalkingCivilWar

8. Cheese off market? @mo64

9. Trick type. @mo64

10. Surround Shirley @Demonstone

11. Hay, gathered then cropped! @WalkingCivilWar (and 0.1 to @Doggas front teeth for trying to help)

12th man. 10 marks for German? @reynolds46

Just the swashbuckling opener remains then!...

# 1 is one of the Marshs.

Rod,

Geoff,

Mitch,

Shaun

(I think??)

Edited by Salems Lot

The only swashbuckling openers I can think of are Keith Stackpole, Michael Slater and Matt Hayden. No Spoonerisms for Stacky, so it must be either Slick Mater or Hat Maiden. But I'm clueless as to the answer.

I thought by swashbuckling opener, @Timothy Reddan-A'Blew meant he’s the first player on this list and not necessarily an opener in real life.
Like @Salems Lot(above), I can’t veer away from it being a Marsh because of “swamp.”

All I can offer is Doug Bollinger. Bog for swamp, and the slimmest chance of there being in existence a Spanish boat called a Dullinger (stop laughing!)

Methinks this guy’s gonna end up carrying his bat. Unless of course Tim is kind enough to give us a clue (?)

We could say @Doggas front teethwas my runner (like back in the day). While the run is credited to me, he should get half a point, at the very least for not getting me run out. 😁

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
