I think these added blokes like Lonie and Zaharakis are AFL Covid impact cover as opposed to being Casey recruits for 2022. Casey in 2022 will be AFL listed plus guys like Munro, Buntine, Freeman, White, Etc.Ā

I think Casey only go 4 deep. White, Munro, Buntine and Grey. I think we had 8 players out on the weekend that'sĀ  5 players that really aren't up to VFL standard due to Buntine being out it makes a difference.Ā

Paul Amy reports that the latest Casey Demons newcomer Wal Wuol from Berwick Under 19s is a nice prospect. Another youngster who comes from a soccer background, having played juniors at Berwick Soccer Club.Ā

So who is Wal Wuol?

There’s an article in the Cranbourne Leader (VFL: Casey Demons sign nine new players for 2022 season) which reports that Wal, who is great mates with Mac Andrew, and began playing only three years ago has made great strides in that time. He’s never played senior football and hardly stepped foot in a gym but was runner-up in the South East Juniors Under 17 Premier B & F in 2019.Ā

According to Casey coach, Mark Corrigan:Ā ā€œHe’s got speed, he’s tough, he’s a good height at 186cm. We’ve been trying him through the wing and as forward. He’s a really nice left-foot kick.ā€

Wuol is eligible under the 23rd player rule and Corrigan is hoping that he plays early.

The Casey Demons player list has been issued:

Thanks KC the locals sure go deep, do we have a Ruckman on our list? That is my area of concern and I would love to see a 202 - 205 Cm youngster running around for Casey.

Yes Jack Bell who's a former St Kilda rookie who is 203cm tall.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
