My 9 year old son, the only of my four that has any interest in footy, starts on a much different course to what I did. I was 9 in 1993 when we suffered defeat at the hands of the hopeless Swans for their only win of the year, and the flack I copped as the only Melbourne supporter at school was merciless.

Like how the current players say they’re not scarred from the past because they weren’t here for it, neither will be the generation of kids growing up in this era.

Sometimes it’s the big things that make the hole as well

take my backside for example

Ummm…………..when was the last time either of them had 39 touches in a GF? Oh that’s right, never.

Daicos was mercurial, but an extremely outside player. Martin is a glorified 1-way runner and doesn’t know how to defend to save himself. Trac has them both covered.

p.s - as for the little things, I always dreamt of knowing the feeling of winning a premiership…..I am now living that dream ❤️. The nagging and anchoring feeling of failure has been replaced with a contentedness and joy that I have never felt before.

Some say it’s just a game. BS………it’s the only game,

I know the feeling DD I wake up every morning feeling surprisingly happy and heading to Demonland for fresh affirmation that we are the best and happiest supporters in the land.❤️💙

Keep in mind the context. BT was describing the difference between Petracca's two goals quite rightly pointing out that the first was like something Dusty would do and the second was using a style that no-one had seen until Daicos came along.

And for what it's worth, on their complete body of work I think Daicos and Dusty still have Petracca covered. Petracca does have time to overtake them, though, but to do so he's going to have to maintain his 2020 and 2021 form for the rest of his career.

Nearly two months later and something extra pops up to read, to listen or watch, whether it’s Goody on RSN, a Demonlanders joy, or even the player season highlights countdown, this season can never end!

I love Kayo mini’s, only ever 17-18 mins away from pure happiness everyday!

Then 100 points to 7 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 so fantastic!

Another little thing, I'm sure mentioned elsewhere, but at the end of van Rooyen's draft reaction video with all his family, at the end someone says, "Off to the premiers!"

That's us!

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
