No match up for Benny, but I wonder how much Kosi's comments will affect the selection.

Personally I'd have Riv in for Holland, Wheaters for Ward and I'd replace Belly with Bizz in the back line and tell Daniel to play a run with role in the midfield (won't happen of course and they'll bring in Godders)

GOD help me if brown gets picked and Godfrey as well haven't we learnt our lesson with these two yet?

I'll absolutely spew if CJ gets dropped.

I'll absolutely spew if CJ gets dropped.

so will a lot of our supporters mate... CJ does not deserve to get dropped none of the 3 you mentioned deserve a game unless we have a lot of injuries hasn't our coaching staff learnt that we are not going to get anymore from these 3 players ??

just shits me so much!

Wheaters to come in to play his 100th and obviously Jaz to come in from injury me thinks...

Does anyone want to point out the obivous here.

How can Ben Holland who was our BEST player vs St.Kilda get dropped?

Holland's in better form as a CHF than Miller and he hasn't played there for 12 months.

I'm vexed by this decision.

you have a good point there ...

what can you say its Melbourne they are unpredictable!

Holland dropped, Yze safe for the moment

A real slap in the face for Benny

Not good enough, MFC

Messers Johnstone, Bruce, Green, Yze and Miller underperform (routinely in some cases) and get saved.

B.Holland has 20-something and 10 marks against an avalanche of ball coming into the forward line and gets dropped.

Je ne comprehende pas.

Merged your thread in with this one Graz/Tess.

I take the point about no match up for Holland, but stick him up forward instead of or alongside Miller. At least Holland's actually in form, unlikely abnout 15 of his teammates.

Another defensive decision from the mastercoach.

disgrace!

if ward gets a game it will be a disgrace the guy cant hit a target in his own colours, the opponents yes.

yze should be dropped but we all know wont be

and godfrey is a major step backwards ESPECIALLY at the cost of a younger player who will improve

Geelong showed some balls in dropping Josh Hunt, lets see whats happens at the selection table if (heaven forbid) we lose again.

Bench should be

Bate, Yze, C.Johnson, Wheatley

Emer - Brown, Bizzell, Godfrey

What the [censored]? Holland dropped? Boy I feel sorry for him. I mean there isnt any obvious match up in defense, but that's a real slap int he face. He was one of, if not our best last week, and to be dropped so easily when someone like Yze has countless chances....just reeks of coaching panel etc playing favorites and not treating players equally and fairly. Bad outs, and probably bad Ins too this week. I feel cheated.

Dutchies stat sheet from last week meant nothing, like was said after the game on SEN, the saints just didn't pay him any attention because they didn't need to. Even if he had of got 40 possies, it wouldn't of hurt them at all as he's a terrible clumsy kick. Basically, they'd rather focus on more damaging player and weren't at all phased that he got a bit of it. Besides, I don't really see much of a matchup for him...

You're right, stats dont mean anything. So, stats aside, he was still one of our best last week :P and you dont reward players who play well by dropping them, even if there isnt a match up. Just isnt fair on the guy. I mean Carroll was shocking last week, I'd drop him ahead of Holland if we were going by form here. Or talk about form, how about the much talked about Adem Yze, or Brad Miller? Even Bate was poor last week. Infact most of the team were. Regardless of whether the Saints let Holland do as he pleased, he still did it and did it well. To drop him sends out the wrong message to the other players. Play well, and we'll drop you due to match ups, coast along on reputation and youl'll be rewarded. Shouldnt be that way.

I'm off to the pub for the night to drown my sorrows, on a completely unrelated note. But poor Dutchy :(

I suspect the view is that Holland has no match up, and in my view (although I wasn't at the game), there have been a few comments that the Saints were happy to allow him to have the ball as the drive from way back in defence dried up.

Maybe ND is looking for a more re-bounding style from half-back which many here have said is needed from last week.?

Youv'e just answered you own question.

Except for Yze, maybe ND doesn't award sympathy spots in the team - nor should he!

If Bizzell can get a spot on the bench, his added experience, along with the wonderful Rivers gives us a shot at keeping them to a losing score.

hmm no brown, thats odd

What, do you want Ward, Brown and Godfrey in the same team???? U 12Ds do better re delivery precision.

"Holland our best against the Saints". Well I was obviously at the wrong game last week. The bloke I saw get 20 uncontested possessions and turn over nearly every single one of them, our best player. Oh well.

Kosi on the radio said they left Holland alone and allowed him to get cheap possessions as they knew he couldn't dispose of the ball and their plan worked to perfection.

I will now look for the most possessions to pick my best player. I won't worry about how the possessions were obtained or what was done with them.

Dropping Ben Holland after a blinder last week is as tasteless as asking a hooker is she would like to do the dishes after she has completed her "carnal duties".

Benny should not be dropped. He was one of the VERY few guys who gave it their all against the saints.

He deserves to play!

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
