What does that mean?  About 5 of those posts were directed at you

Many fine posters have come and gone on ‘land over many years

Well if the cap fits.

Welcome back however, it is interesting that you've been allowed back in the community. I remember some posters sang your praises when you were banned so perhaps you have some redeeming qualities. I'm not without my own issues but I'm a work in progress. Perhaps you are also, we'll see. I was tidying up my ignore list the other day and took you off due to the permanent holiday, clearly premature but will see how we go. I hope Moonie and Biffen have been  allowed to return also.

Are you a mod? If not, you’re terribly condescending. In fact, the mods aren’t even this cavalier.

That's pretty insightful for a petrol head but narcissists don't have a need for a mirror.

I used to excuse your obnoxious nighttime posts as just the Merlot talking.

I was obviously wrong about the Merlot.

No, however I do have history, it was SWYL who instigated my avatar after 10years of not having one. I'm not sure why your dragging the Mods into this, you've implied that they are somewhat cavalier but not as cavalier as myself. I suppose it depends on your definition of "cavalier". If you mean it in the sense of not taking account of peoples feelings then that's true but with caveats.

I find it mildly amusing (now that is condescending) that a handful of posters have decided to give me a "dressing down" because of a few comments between SWYL and myself. He is quite capable of defending himself and we have exchanged pleasantries in the past. I would think that would be a matter between us and perhaps I should have PM'd him and saved everyone's outrage.

My post that you have quoted wasn't meant to be condescending. I admit I have my character flaws and it's one of them that I'm blunt. If that offends you don't read what I post.

Yep, I have been alcohol free for 6 weeks now. I have retained my sense of humour and my thick skin. It's interesting that you think enough of yourself to excuse me for being less than you want (although it does appear you've reached your breaking point ). If I wasn't so thick skinned I would think you're being abusive toward me. That couldn't be right could it? You do have a propensity for reading what I post in reply to others and then pass judgement on my failings. Do please continue, you might get me to think right.

Congrats on the sobriety.

If you take umbrage at my comments, or indeed anyone’s comments, then yes, perhaps PM is the way to go.

I wouldn’t consider the comments of yours (below) cavalier if you were a mod. They’re cavalier because you’re not a mod. That doesn’t mean I think the mods are cavalier; it means I think these sorts of comments should only be made by someone in the position to do so, ie, the mods.

“…it is interesting that you've been allowed back in the community.”

“…perhaps you have some redeeming qualities…we'll see. I was tidying up my ignore list the other day and took you off due to the permanent holiday, clearly premature but will see how we go.”

The reason I went in to bat for SWYL has to do with the circumstances under which he left DL. I won’t elaborate lest I get a warning from the mods (who made a point of closing down the conversation) suffice it to say it would be sad if a similar situation ensued and he had to leave again.
Oh, and SWYL knows what I’m talking about because unlike your good self, I PM’ed him rather than discussing non-footy issues in public.
Edit: sincerely happy for your six weeks alcohol free. ?

I am suitably chastened, although I do feel you are taking on a Mods role and trying to censor what I say. Perhaps you could coach SWYL as it was he who felt the need to reply to an old post that went up prior to me knowing he wasn't permanently banned. You seem to be a nice person and we haven't had any discernible differences previously but as I said SWYL can look after himself and we have a long history of disagreements going back many years until I put him on ignore. He is back there again. This thread has shown me he is the same as ever and I should have known that. Hence the  "if the cap fits" comment. With hindsight I shouldn't have started with that because it's like throwing burley on the water.

Because I am who I am, you don't get off scot free. If you re-read your last line above, doesn't "unlike your good self" sound a bit condescending? Now, I'm not always articulate and get the meaning of words confused from time to time but I'll see if I've got irony sorted. It's ironic that you've chastised me about not PMing and discussing non-footy issues in public.

All good. I’ve got no issue with you, you’ve explained it well. What transpires between you and SWYL isn’t my business, but there is a solid reason why I weighed in on it. Here’s not the place to explain so ima shoot you a quick PM. ?

PS: I naturally use expressions like “your good self.” Probs does come off as arrogant, but that’s defs not the intention.

It continued to be a toboggan ride the second Mean Gene said 'Let's meet Dr. D's family' and the next image shown was a cow mooing. I'd be [censored] off too if someone intimated my next of kin was a bovine. ??

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

  • PREGAME: Sydney

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
