Yep. This is why I referenced hitting the cap in a year or two. I wasn't sure if his two-year extension finished in 2022 or 2023. Thanks for clarifying.

Not sure why people are against the 5 listed. People are overrating our list yet again. The reason we are doing well is system based, not personnel. It's a credit to the players for buying in. But keep in mind that Adelaide beat us and Collingwood made us look silly.

Lemmens is a great young player. Tom Lynch is an upgrade on Weideman and Ben Brown. Switkowski is nifty and is in the mould of Spargo. If Switkowski was playing for us now and Spargo was playing for Freo, we'd be all saying Spargo wouldn't make our 22. Robbie Fox I'm not a fan of.

He probably doesn't offer us what we really need but I'd have him before Brayshaw who whilst performing a role has been pretty wasteful by foot.

Oh god ?

5 targets ?

I agree that Trent Dumont is certainly worth a call … others to see if there’s any interest based on what we could reasonably offer

oliver florent- swans

brayden maynard - pies

Ed Richards - dogs

Jack Petruccelle- Eagles

Isaac Smith worth a shot? He may want to come to a contending side in his twilight

I would happily say yes to the first 3 except Petruccelle.

He's a Sam Blease mk 2. Barely finds the footy and even when he does, he sprints so quick that he just butchers the footy straight to the opposition.

Alex Sexton is worth a shot. Outside of that, maybe chase their third pick. Not sure we have a lot to offer. They may bite at TMAC and Brayshaw. It would take that to get it done. Both clubs should do that. We could then inject more talent, and chase a winger through free agency.

I agree DD36 that’s he’s previously problem was kicking errors.  But in the last few games I’ve seen Petruccelle play this year, he seems a lot more effective with his possessions and disposal.  I nominated him because he might want to come home to Victoria and be reasonably priced for $ and trade price. He is very dangerous up forward and loves a goal. With his pace, he’d form a dangerous combo with Kozzzzy.

Dumont is having a good game Suns.  Would be hard to shake him loose from the Kangas.

Add Ben Ainsworth.  Really looked ok for periods of today’s match v Kangas. Good hands. Good skills hitting targets. Good pace and strength. But something missing in his development and could really benefit from coming back to Vic and a lift in intensity.  After 4 1/2 years at the Suns, he hasn’t lived up to draft pick#4.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
