Not sure I’m buying the argument that Brown, who is known as a leading forward, will all of a sudden make our forward line better at contested marking.

Perhaps but what about the argument he couldnt make it worse?

Apparently did well in the twos.

I think teams have realised without some talls they just crowd our fwd line and stop us marking.

A lot of his marks were contested today, so there is your answer!

He did what he had to do today. If he can take the best defender and contribute 2 goals a game its a big win for us. He's well capable of that imv. Let's get him back in and see if we can make it work. We need to find out sooner rather than later. If it fails we can revert back to the extra small.

I reckon he did his part today, so will be fascinating to see what the coaches do. I hope he is the missing piece for us.

I was on the fence about Brown coming back, but off a short break and with our lack of efficiency forward of centre it’s not going to make us worse.

I also think our forward line pressure has been way down the last month, and if anything it’s kept Brown out of the side - due to concerns he won’t compete as hard as a running, small player. I’m now starting to think we need him there to at least let the little guys go to work. We’ve had so few repeat forward entries the last few weeks, and even less crumbing opportunities.

BBB HAS TO PLAY NEXT WEEK.

BBB SHOULD HAVE PLAYED TODAY V GIANTS.

BBB HAS TO PLAY AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT 4 WEEKS AT LEAST.  EVEN IF ITS DOESNT WORK V POWER, WE MUST PERSIST. WE NEED TO KEY FOWARD GOALKICKING FORWARD.

I said if we didn't drop Weideman after the Collingwood loss, we weren't serious.

This time, I say if we don't include Brown and persist with a mosquito fleet forward line that has no buzz or sting, we aren't serious.

The man needs at least 5 weeks. This isn't a welcome selection headache anymore. This is just being 'innovative' for the sake of it.

Plus, it's not fair on Kozzy, Sparg or Nibbler. Fritsch is a good 3 option. Tomald plays one kick from home.

BBB comes back next week, or I WILL start to have my concerns with Goodwin.

Totally agree:

- provides target

- contesting marks will help with spills for smalls

- TMac gets number 2 defender & Fritsch #3

- will kick straight

- good at earning frees

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
