Coaches Votes are out for Round 12 and i must admit im a bit surprised. The calculations would indicate that Bailey got 5 votes. Yes he was good but 5 votes worth?

VOTES

Christian Petracca (MELB)
7
Zac Bailey (BL)
7
Clayton Oliver (MELB)
6
Max Gawn (MELB)

Eric Hipwood (BL)

He was very good in the first half, just as Oliver was very good in the second half.

Hipwood with 1 vote is surely taking the absolute p!ss.

Baily 5   -   Clarry  5

Trac 4     - Trac   4

Max 3   -   Max  3

Clarry 2 -  Baily 2

or

Clarry 5 - Trac 5

Baily 4 - Max 4

Trac 3 - Baily 3

Max 2 - Clarry 2

The second option is the most likely.  Very rare for a player in the losing side to get 5.  I can understand the disparity between a 5 and 3 for Tracc and a 5 and 2 for Oliver - Oliver had 8 possessions to half time but was brilliant in the second half. Gawn as a 4 and 2 makes sense.  Bailey at 4 and 3 is perfectly understandable.

Oliver 4 + 3

Max 4 + 2

Cant dispute the coach's opinion, because that is all it is, but IMO a great first half in a losing team is not nearly as valuable as a great second half in a winning team.

If I'm Chris Fagan I'd have given Harris Andrews a vote before Hipwood.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
