Just for fun how is this?

Australian Capital with damaged fallboot and golf stick where a fan has tossed (arid+some+n)

Number of letters in each word: 9,8,4,9,8

Canberra Football Club Supporter Syndrome?
JK. I’m being facetious. “Australian capital city with...” probs would’ve been better. But then again, Canberra is an eight-letter word, not nine.

Was wondering when you’d pop up, DS. ?

Great clue. I personally would never use the old chestnut ship for ss, but hey, you do you. ?

This team still plays with the yips.  When Dusty Martin takes a forward 50 mark - you can see he is relishing the moment and wants to kick the goals to win the games. Oliver,  Petracca, Max, Brayshaw and Kozzie are still not there yet.  Look out when this winning confidence starts to do what it is doing to someone like Tom McDonald (confidence 200% atm). There are more gears to this

Especially Trac and Max who are often playing forward. An area they really need to fix.

Great post @Altona-demon.  Those early season 'come from behind' wins against St Kilda and Geelong were very important in terms of building self-belief.

As for a winning culture, I really would like the team to not get jumped early in the first qrts.

Its fantastic that we have come back in several games but would obviously better if we dont make it harder for ourselves.

Centre clearances last week were a worry.

Cheers to our defence.

Big call, hopelandic call. I’m not gunna argue. Untitled #8 is my favourite song of all time.

Derailing the thread a bit so to get it back on track, go football!

This is such a great explanation of the MFCSS - hit the nail on the head!

Agree.

Missed one important example.

The forward who has been down on form, thst we play back into form and he kicks a bag.

I'm gonna be nervous if they start cripps forward!

Not just yet DA (it's your fault having those initials!)

Props to you, WCW, and Lucie and Mr Stone, for your 'encryption' of MFCSS. I got as far as 'Spooner's campanologist...' then my brain caved in...

I'd actually only meant to throw out a challenge for an 'antagonistic or belligerent' alternative for 'Supporter'. May I contribute 'Skyisfalling'?

Nice post, but you're tough to single out Brayshaw - his win/loss record is 50-52 and he's only had two seasons in his career where he's played in more losing games than winning ones, one of which was his first one, the other being the car crash that was 2019. I don't think he qualifies as a player who's a bit used to losing. Really the only ones on our list that were there for the really dark times are Jones, Gawn, Viney and McDonald; three of which are leading the resurgence.

I'd argue McDonald still suffers from this. He's been up for a few weeks now, but after starting well in 2021, he had that really poor game against GWS, and to me at least, his head seemed to really drop. But to be fair, he's looked a million dollars since.

Let's just hope we keep winning a while longer and the players almost forget what losing feels like.

I mean, there’s worse bands they could’ve picked. Depeche Mode are actually really good. I still regularly listen to Songs of Faith and Devotion, an album from early 2000’s.
GO DEES!!!!

Hadda include Go Dees lest we’re punished for hijacking this thread. Oh, and coz the Dees are the greatest football club in the history of mankind, and a bit before that. ?

A suitable track-list for MFCSS: "I Feel You", "Walking in My Shoes", "Condemnation", "Mercy in You" . . .

Seems like a good thread for me to post an updated version of win percentage for games with the Dees.

What we are seeing is the majority of our list now with over 50% winning percentage.

One last thing on Depeche Mode... all the detractors making so much noise about the Dees etc. If we make it all the way this year we can “Enjoy The Silence.”

Silence from all 17 other clubs, that is. And us? We’ll be bringing the proverbial house down. We’ll register 8, maybe 9 on the Richter scale. ?

I listened to Goody's interview this week and one with Yze .

They said their aim to have a team that the supports can TRUST . That supporters can go to EVERY game knowing the team will have a crack .

This was on my Xmas wish list .

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
