Can't think of a player who very obviously had NOPE stamped on his name in big letters by a coach.

Third in the B&F in 2013, in and out of the side in 2014 under Roos. Signed on for two years at the end of 2014, played two full seasons in the VFL when just about every other player on the senior list got picked at some point. Almost seemed like a stubborn standoff between coach and player in the end. Pretty funny in hindsight - probably not for Dean though.

I was thinking of the BnF in 2013 when I saw the 2021 DL leaderboard with so many guns. How far have we come? Staggering

Dean tried his guts out so fair play to him. Just didn’t have the talent

Winning the next 34 on the trot isn't too much to ask for is it?

To be fair I think we should give him until the end of 2022 to even up

Looks like James Jordan is the new Clyde Laidlaw!

(Fingers crossed because that's an 81% win rate and four premierships in 124 games)

I met Clyde at a Grand Final function about five years ago and had a long chat with him. What a gentlemen. And he was in great shape. Always and forever a Deez man, followed us very closely and thought that our recruiting, playing style and coaching strategy with Roos back then was spot on.

FUN FACT

James Jordon is the first player to win his first 6 games since.....

Charlie Spargo in 2018 R6-11

Bonus facts:
The next best is 7 winning games by Brian Dunsford in 1957 where he played 7 games that year, all wins and didn't play another season with anyone.  James Jordon has the chance this week to equal this

The second best is 13 wins in a row by Alby Rodda in 1939 winning 9 games (including a flag) continuing on to win his first 4 games of 1940 after missing round 1.

The best streak by a Melbourne player is Bryan Kenneally's first 14 games were all wins with 2 played in 1959 and 12 played in 1960.
After his first two seasons he had a record of 17 games 16-3 and one premiership.

Thats amazing.  Knock off North and the Swans and he owns the record outright.

Reminds me of the sad stat about Robbie - 270 odd games and finals only in his last three.
Come 88-89-90 Newport, Viney, Stynes and co were running like 9 finals out of 30 or 40 games

How does this compare to Cam Pedersen's percentage? I feel like we won every game he played for us there for a while.

Just seeing Cam on the field was a win in itself - really enjoyed his suddent efforts and effects for the team. One of my favourites; he was so motivating at times.

Not that it matters, but Marty Hore is in your list twice...with the same % win.

Seeing this list really makes me feel for Nathan Jones. Playing might seem "easy" for players like Jordon, Rivers and Jackson, but Jones really did it tough and the fact that he stuck with us throughout those terrible years should never be forgotten.

Thank you, just fixed that up :)

Yeah I feel for Jones,  a lot of players on our list between 2007-2016 would have had similar horrific %.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
