2021 NAB League Boys

Mac Andrew is being hyped up in today’s Herald Sun which refers to his inclusion in the NAB AFL Academy Squad to play against Geelong. On the other hand, his NAB League SuperRanking after Round 4 is only 34 while Bulldogs NGA Academy prospect Cody Raak is #1 on that list. The SuperRanking list doesn’t include interstate players so Andrew is still not guaranteed a top 20 spot by a long way.

Thanks. Dogs seem to have been lucky with NGA Scheme

Because he applied for last years draft and didn't get taken, I think he could nominate for the mid season draft and would then be eligible for any club. If he waits then I think he can still be linked with the Dogs in the national draft at the end of the year.

I suspect a lot of clubs will be using the mid season draft to get kids who've developed a bit more this year, those normal late bloomers who couldn't play last year, so there might be a bit of a drain on talent in the national draft. Might also be less mature age, ready made players brought in than the previous msd.

Jamarre Ugle Hagan kicked 5 in his second VFL game.   Remember everyone, its fine the Dogs were gifted him last year but its not ok for the Demons to get Mac Andrew if he goes in the top 20.

I'm pretty sure Mac Andrew was at the game yesterday, decked out in the DEMON'S gear, he's quite tall and very thin.

I'd say he was sitting with the demons players who weren't playing in the game.

Knightmatre’s review of Mac in the game

Mac Andrew won fans with his final quarter performance for the AFL Academy. With his getting pummelled, Andrews not only continued competing, but dominated once inserted into the ruck during the final quarter. His leap, ruck craft and soft hands stood out and screamed long-term AFL ruckman, and he routinely outleapt his Geelong rivals and tapped the ball down to the advantage of his midfielders. His touch below his knees and tackling suggested further promise. A Melbourne Next-Generation Academy prospect, Andrew at 200cm, 77kg will require time developing. As he develops physically, because of his mobility, skills, clean hands below his knees, and reading of the ball in flight and contested marking, he has the scope to develop as a key forward or key defender before transitioning into a ruckman. The developing tall managed nine disposals, three marks (one contested), two clearances and five hitouts. If Andrew continues developing and attracts a bid inside the top-20 in this year's draft, Melbourne may be the first victim of the new Next-Generation Academy rules which state that those bid on inside the top-20 cannot have their bid matched.

Shhhhhhhhh. I was hoping to keep the Mac A under wraps but his bio builds week on week. It would be just more of a curse if he was a top 20 pick and MFC misses on the NGA silver platter concession.

As a positive, there were a lot of injuries in that squad, so hopefully there are a lot of guys who are going to take those top 20 spots. He is also a project, so they tend to fall. And bar Jackson and Naitanui, ruckman really arent taken high. It is feeling touch and go now and there is a lot of season left.

We will likely trade up to get him. Everyone saying oh but we don't have the points blah blah, Literally every teams draft order changes when the actual draft comes around.
