binman 44,851 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Question: If the Dees play the Pies at the G next week how many people will attend (some context: the 2019 AFLW GF at Adelaide Oval had aprox 50k fans)? Quote
Kev 10,930 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Good no change, sets us for stability and cohesion. Bad luck Daisy, hoping for next week. She will still be on the boundary, mustering them all. Take your opportunities. Go Dees. 1 Quote
gaelicfootballfan 104 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 We have a saying here in Ireland that ‘Semi-Finals are for winning’. So in this case it’s ‘Preliminary Finals are for winning’. It doesn’t matter how you win your semi final, as long as you do as few will remember the team that loses in the semi final. It doesn’t have to be pretty or glamorous just effective. Melbourne have a huge chance to reach the final and anything is possible in sport. I’ve picked up my phone the last 5 Saturday mornings to see that have Melbourne won, fingers crossed it’ll be 6. 3 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Our intensity and tackling pressure did for the Crows when we played them a few weeks ago. A repeat does is required today. We can’t let Adelaide off the chain at all. Really looking forward to the game. Win or lose these girls have been fantastic. 1 Quote
dl4e 5,851 Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 I would have liked to see Daisy in the side. Even if on the bench and playing small game time. She is invaluable. Anyway girls do your best as you always do and see if can get Daisy up for next weeks Granny. 1 Quote

One said how exhausted she was last night after footy training. Women's football is going to help Australian rules football thrive and ultimately become tbe number one sport in Australia. Without Women's footy that would never happen, given its competitors are international sports. It is something worth keeping in mind when talk about pay comes around. And netball knows it. The number of kids in my daughters netball club who now play footy as well is growing. There is already growing pressure on young girls to choose between footy and netball, because training clashes etc. the last netball presentation I went to at least 5-10% of the girls were wearing footy shorts as the presentation was after their footy match on a Saturday... 1 Quote

Just to compare the pair fairly, tickets were free to that Grand final, in my view that inflates the numbers quite a bit, because people who are curious and think why not. I am going to today’s match with my wife and eldest daughter, tickets were $22 for the three of us (with juniors being free). The last COVID matches I went to at Adelaide oval last year by comparison (men’s) were $60 and $120 I know the AFL had frozen ticket prices for the first 2 rounds of finals. I would be very interested to see what they do with the Grand Final. I hope they keep prices the same and encourage as many people to go as possible. Edited April 10, 2021 by Rossmillan Quote

Rossmillan 589 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 Steady rain falling here. Ben Gibson and Libby Birch said they were expecting fine conditions, but I think we might see a shower or two, this will favour us I’d reckon... 1 Quote
darkhorse72 1,943 Posted April 10, 2021 Posted April 10, 2021 The confidence going into todays's match is the consistency we have been playing with for the last 5 weeks. They aren't up and down like the men's team. 2 Quote
