WOW!  Mahoney misses out on CEO job (to Pert) and now is demoted by Pert to a far lesser job to report to his previous underling (Richardson).  That would be brutal by Pert.  If that happens it smacks more of politics at the top than sensible organisation re-structure.

If the Richo reports to Green (or any individual board member) we have the reporting and accountability all wrong.  I would be very worried by Green's appt to the Board if his role becomes managerial.

Wait and see what the actual info is I guess. 'Reporting to' can be different to 'managed by' though. It could just be that Green is the conduit between Mahoney and the board? Nothing's official yet anyways.

I did say 'if'.

Oh yeah, wasn't disagreeing or anything like that, more just saying that I've only heard bits and pieces so the details around it all might be different to what I've said.

I just posted this in another thread but Mitch Cleary said something similar during an AFL Exchange podcast yesterday: Richardson getting a larger role including head of football and head of coaching sort of stuff, Mahoney getting a different role involving list management.

It may well be that a decision has been made in the last day or two (explaining why it's now leaking out) and a formal announcement may be imminent?

Ah cool. Didn’t see that post.
thanks for the info.

any word on some of our uncontracted players who arent in the clear trade or delist bucket?  Specifically Hunt, bedford, Jordan, Neitschke, Chandler or M.Brown.?

Obviously list sizes will play a part but given re-signings Im surprised Hunt hasnt been raised anywhere - either as trade or re-sign.

Thank you DrEvil for the update which all sounds very Credible and mostly achievable.

While I can respect Goody's knowledge of Brodie Smith haven't we got a defender ( albeit to mind opposition smalls and with run and carry) in Lockhart plus Riv on the other HB flank to Hibbo with Salo hopefully up forward flank way still available.

A third Or fourth rounder Might get a good Draft prospect at say 50/55 or a Wantawsy  speedster from Somewhere or A Tom Phillips or even a Jarrad Polec with a combined 3 and 4 rounder!!

Or am I being a bit nit picky not trusting Goody's  judgement ??

Lots of clubs are very frustrated as not knowing list sizes is making things very difficult.

And our Hawks 2nd rounder at 23 just got pushed out to 25 with FA compo. Possibly 26 if Jezza to Cats compo comes through. And that's before academy or f/s bid matching. It will be 30-35 in the blink of an eye.

If possible, I'd look to trade it in a  bigger package to move up into single digit number at draft time.

Our 2020 2nd, Preuss, Tmac and future 2nd or 3rd for GWS pick 9?

I'd be absolutely staggered if that's the case and Mahoney wasn't just removed totally. not doubting your intel but it sounds like if that were the case, Alan RIchardson would be the GM of footy, and Mahoney would be in a new undefined role.

Personally i don't mind it but i can't see Mahoney being kept on, if not in his current position.

Yeah, the person who told me about it said they'd be pretty surprised if Mahoney didn't start looking around if the rumoured changes happen.

My concern with Richo as head of footy is list management during his time at St Kilda was very ordinary from the outside looking in.

He might he good at the rest of it, I've no real way of knowing.

Wouldn't be surprised if he landed at the Bombers. i don't mind the Richo GM of footy idea. certainly got the experience.

Not sure if Richo will be involved with the list management though. I think everything is being redefined a fair bit. Mahoney could still have a big hand in trades etc IMO. I think it's going to be more about managing the coaches, communication, effectiveness of the footy department. I'm guessing though.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
